Current State of Ammo Prices and Supply

On Thanksgiving day the local Wally had CCI Minimags, so I bought 300
A week later they had 225 rd boxes of Remington, so I bought two (sold one to a buddy)
They've had a constant supply of 22 short.
My revolver eats it like candy.

All told, I probably have 1,000 rds.
It'll do for now, but I sure wish I could find Fiocchi High Velocity 22HVCRN
My Beretta chokes on just about everything else.

Queen o. T.:
When some people state that centerfire handgun ammo is not easy to find, are they talking about Only the lower-priced brands, or does this observation also include all such handgun ammo? Quite often they never differentiate.

At our only Academy, I looked for the lowest-priced 9mm Luger to buy a couple boxes for a very young friend (infantry soldier in Iraq in '09), who broke an ankle, therefore losing his job, but it seems that the "flippers" always grab up these lowest-priced 9mm Luger brands.

By the way, since buying my two-box (100 rd.) limit of .22LR a week after the store's grand opening, .22LR has always been cleaned out early in the day.
My only Academy purchases since then have been 7.62x39 and .32 Auto for my First handgun (WW2 Sauer 38H). This classic German handgun and both SKS have the Senator Feinstein:evil: "Stamp Of Approval".

My guess is its the SD ammo that is still on the shelf. Your range/plinking ammo is probably what is missing. My Academy got a decent shipment of non SD ammo this morning. Now seeing a lot of 223/556 but 9mm is still rather scarce. The Monarch is going for $12.99 for a 50 count box of their brass 9mm ammo. I can get a 50 count box of Federal 9mm if they still have any left at a LGS for $15.99.

The Gander by me has several full dump tables of 223 as well as shelves of it and everything else (except 22). No shortages at all; prices are higher than a few years ago, but so is a Pepsi in the C store. Some folks, thinking prices are going to go back down to preObama pricing when 223 boxes of 20 were $2.99, are kidding themselves. The days of that and $7.99 bricks of 22 are gone. Increase your budget, shoot less, or reload

Would really be nice if posters would state the location (at least the city & state) where they are finding reloading supplies. Simply stating, "I found lots of .22LR at Walmart", doesn't do any of us any good.

One seems to be able to find most anything you need; but not at the prices we are used to.

All higher by 10 - 20% and higher.

I recently moved from where Queen of Thunder lives and the prices where she is at compared to where I am now, night and day. I can still get 100 round packs of .45 for $39.99, 9mm is running about 12 a box, 5.56/.223 is 7-8 a box. This is from a local store and not a chain, the chains have the same pricing.

OK, so what's the beef? My gas went from $1.29 to $3.70 a gallon; my insurance went up 30% each year for the last two years to pay for Ocare implementation, a 16 oz Pepsi went from 69 to 1.29 in the last two years.................in short, EVERYTHING went up

My local WalMart still had a line 15 people long waiting for ammo to come in last night. 40S&W, 32ACP, 380ACP and 25ACP were sitting on the shelf but it's been over a year now without 22LR or 9mm. 45 has been occasionally available.

When will the scalpers quit?
