i asked about recoil pads recently for my pardner pump 12 gauge, i have measured my stock and found that i need the small size. when installing a pachmayr, limbsaver, or allen slip on pad will it work if i take my old pad off? i'm not a tall or long armed person and leaving my old one on will make a length of pull thats not right. so my question is if i take my old pad off will the slip on still work as in holding on and not slipping? thanks

Yes you have to take the old pad off or the slip-on pad will add another pad length to the stock.

You would be better served in the long run to have a gunsmith install a real pad and grind it to perfectly fit your stock.

But it appears you already have a real pad.

So what are you hoping to gain exactly??

i was cleaning my gun recently and took the pad off to try a pistol grip only. i decided real quick to go back to my stock. but my house dog chewed some on the recoil pad as he got into the back room where i work on the guns. its ok and will work for a while but will soon need replaced. thanks

Dog ate your recoil pad huh?
Well, that's special!

Slip-on?
Ahhh?
Slip is the key word here.
'Don't fit or Hit Anymore' is the other one.

If you need a new recoil pad?
That's what you need to have a gunsmith put on it properly if you can't do it yourself.

Slip-ons are a ingenious solution to a non-existent problem.
At least to shot-gunners who can understand how importent proper stock fit is to speed, comfort, and hitting what you shoot at.
At least most of the time.

no, i left the door open to my gun room. or thats what my wife said i thought i shut it. we have a half dashhound half chiwawa, we got it for our son, but its bad about getting into things we haven't taught it not too. it seems to always get my things tho, the pad is still ok but it is chewed some. and using it will finally end it down the rd.

Your dog is bored to death.

Give him a job like fetch the paper, or your slippers, or some new tricks.

Or better yet, take him for a mile or two walk every day to wear him down and he won't eat your stuff.

It's very good for you too!
