It is possible that Winchester may have used some of the 358 barrels in the Model 100. Although I was under the impression that the 100 was not chambered in 358, this rifle surely look correct in in my non-expert qualified opinion.
Thank you all for your thoughts and comments on the rifle, Ser# is noted on first post and I have written Cody Museum and await the response. As to the circumstances, I acquired this gun without regard to rarity but rather to price, it was not priced as "the only 358 ever built" if in fact it truly is or not, which I hope to determine. As I gather more information I will post that to share. I appreciate the knowledge and information that you all are sharing.
Just to further update you , The Cody Museum does not have any information on this gun in there system, so unable to further the research that way. I would love to be able to prove or disprove it one way or the other so if anyone has any more ideas they would be appreciated.
