I'm "getting to know" my "new to me" 1300 (an XTR model, which I'm told is 1989 or older).....

I've encountered some little idiosyncrasies (aside from furniture details)....

It appears that on the newer models the slide arm bridge is connected to the bolt by means of a curved tongue that engages into a groove in the firing pin. On my model the slide arm bridge is attached to the bolt by a machine screw.

My 1300 has a metal trigger guard and the new ones have injection molded plastic.

I shot a friends 1200 about a month ago and aside from the furniture, I didn't really notice any difference......so....I'm wondering.....does anybody out there know what changed when the model went from 1200 to 1300? and what year did the model change occur?

I'm wondering if my 1300 has some characteristics that are hold over from the 1200.

Given a modicum of PM and TLC, the 1200/1300 gives fine service. Worry less about the details, keep it exercised and enjoy....j

IMO, the Winchester 1200 points better than any single-barrelled repeating shotgun on earth.

1964 Model 1200 Trap all original. Even has a Herb Orre 23 yard choke done by Herb himself. This gun punched 497 out of 500 by My Dad at Middletown Ohio in '65.

Same gun different light...
