I don't select my firearms by watching movies.
My father/grandfather/great-grandfather knew less about rifles than I do.
Ease of take-down is important to me.
I don't like to clean barrels from the muzzle-end.
My Marlins don't rattle.

I have a '94 in 32 win spl., and 2 Marlin 1895's,(one is the original 18 1/2" ported, and the other a 22"). Having grown up with the Winchester, the first thing I did with the Marlins was to block-plane that '55 Buick sized forearm down to receiver size. The Marlins now carry just like the Win and all is well.

I like both will give the nod to Marlin for the reasons already stated.

Of the three Winchester 30-30s I've had in my possession, all were very accurate and not finicky about ammo. They are rattle more and feel less sturdy but held up well to abuse and neglect.

I like the 336 it is easier to scope. I use one for pig hunting its great in the woods.

I've always liked the Marlin 36 with the square bolt. I'm still kicking my own arse for not picking up the cheap one that was tagged as a 336 RC at ye local gonne shoppe...:( But with a 336 and 94 in the safe, how many more .30-30's do I really need?

How about the Uberti's?

I've had both, and had a Browning lever in .357. I've always thought the marlin and the winchester both "cycled" the 30-30 round OK, but my favorite Lever rifle is also chambered in my favorite hand gun round----the .357 Mag.

I have both the Uberti Henry 45LC and the Uberti Winchester 357 Mag.
The way that these guns get the cartridge from the "tube"and into the receiver is different than any other rifle I've come across.

I also had a Puma in 357 Mag. and it was a total POS!!

I love both the Urberti's, but they cost me an arm and a leg!! and they are NOT brush guns.

I bought the Henry 45 because I've always wanted one, liked the way they look without the forearm----and I bought the Winchester .357 because I have 2 Ruger SS Super Blackhawks in .357

But that's just me!! Carry on with the Marlin---Winchester "thing"

I voted Winchester...

But I feel that the Marlin is the overall better gun... But.... I just can't warm up to it. Maybe I have been shooting Winchesters too long, but the Marlin feels like it doesn't have the personality the the 94 does...

I own both and enjoy both for different reason. The Marlin is a favorite to take to the woods. It has a low power leupold VXII on it and it is good for 100 Yds off-hand at pie-plate size targets.

The 94 was my dad's. He passed away and my mom sold all of his guns except this one (I still do NOT forgive her for this, nor will I ever!! I mean EVER!). It is over 40 years old and it looks like the day it came out of the box. The only wear is on the magazine feed port. I like to shoot it, but I cannot ever think about schlepping through the woods with it.
