Hey. I just inheirited a .22 Winchester Model 1903. First off, anybody hae an idea what it's worth. Second, what's the screw knob at the back of the receiver for?

Thanks,

Mark

Blue Book shows $50 to $365 depending on condition. Probably a bit more now, mine is not the current issue.

The knob is for takedown.

You do know that it is chambered for .22 Winchester Automatic, NOT .22 Short, Long, or Long Rifle, don't you? The Old Western Scrounger has it at $12.95 a box.

Search for .22 Winchester Auto.

It also is not chambered for the .22 Remington Automatic. I tried to shoot some of that stuff in mine, got bulged and split cases so I sent it back to Winchester and had a new barrel fitted (this was back in the 1950's).

Got the newly barrelled rifle back, loaded the magazine and started shooting. Same song, just a different verse. I never did find any .22 Winchester cartridges for it, so I sold it.

Wow. Thanks for the info. I remember shooting it years back with .22 LR and splitting a case. I had no idea that there was a 22 Winchester Auto round. I guess I'll have to order some so that I can shoot the old family heirloom. Can't wait.
