Nice rifle.. I always liked those old Winchesters.. Congrats...

Love those old take-downs.
That was a 'thing' back then, apparently.

Take downs were more common back in the day in part because the of the significant boom in the popularity of bicycles at the end of the 19th century....

My apologies to the OP for getting a little of topic....

Mine is from 1925. First firearm that I ever fired, at age 8. Given to my Dad when he turned 8 in 1940. A few years ago he asked me if I wanted it or the Mod 97 16 ga shotgun that belonged to my Great-grandfather. I had first choice as the eldest son, and my brother would get 2nd. I chose the '06, and have never regretted it. (Besides, in a fit of insanity, my Dad had the '97 refinished.)
