Winchester 1906!

Brought this home today- a Winchester 1906 made in 1911. 'For .22 Short, Long & Long Rifle.' The bore isn't pristine but it's pretty good. The mechanism is slick and the trigger is very good. Can hardly wait to get to the range and try it out!

A classic! I have a couple of 22s with less than perfect bores. They shoot just fine.

Take downs were more common back in the day in part because the of the significant boom in the popularity of bicycles at the end of the 19th century....

Mine is from 1925. First firearm that I ever fired, at age 8. Given to my Dad when he turned 8 in 1940. A few years ago he asked me if I wanted it or the Mod 97 16 ga shotgun that belonged to my Great-grandfather. I had first choice as the eldest son, and my brother would get 2nd. I chose the '06, and have never regretted it. (Besides, in a fit of insanity, my Dad had the '97 refinished.)

They are sweet little rifles, however don't try firing the high velocity Long Rifle ammo in them as they will freeze up, just standard velocity LR's will work just fine.

Really? I can't count the number of high vel bricks I have shot through mine over the years.
