I'm look of a good starting load got Winchester 231 and berry's 124 gr for 9mm.

Looking at the Hodgdon reloading center I find something on 115 LRN but nothing on 124gr jacket.

Many thank for any input.

If I'm not mistaken, there is data for 124/5 gr jacketed on their site. I believe it's 4.0-4.4 gr, by memory.

With Berry's use starting to mid load jacketed data. So you can use the same charge with either bullet. I like the WSF better with the heavier 124gr powder. It will give you a softer (not snappy) recoil.

Berry's MFG recommends we use start-to-mid range load data and 1999 Winchester load data lists:
124 gr Lead RN W231 Start 3.3 gr (910 fps) 23,800 PSI - Max 4.0 gr (1035 fps) 32,900 PSI

124 gr FMJ W231 Start 4.2 gr (1005 fps) 28,800 PSI - Max 4.5 gr (1060 fps) 32,700 PSI
For me with Glock 17 using longer 1.135" OAL, although 4.2 gr of W231/HP-38 shoots accurate and reliably cycles the slide with lighter recoil, 4.5 gr feels more like factory load and also shoots accurate.

Berry's 124gr HP over 4.3gr 231 @ approx 1.045" oal here. Makes PF and has a very manageable recoil

4.3 HP-38 Berry's 124 RN 1.14"OAL
I've shot a few thousand of that loading and it is very accurate in my guns.
