Hi, Friends :)

I'd like to know... are Winchester 231 and Hodgdon HP-38 the same powder in the way that Win 296 and Hodgdon H110 are?

The data seems about the same... and they are listed one after the other in the burning rate charts that I've seen. If 5.3 of 231 is good in .44 Spl, would I expect 5.3 of HP-38 to be the same thing? Mike Venturino said in one place that 5.3 of 231 is his favorite light .44 Spl load, and in a different article he said that 5.3 of HP-38 was his fave.

And they sure do LOOK the same... for what that's worth (I know, I know... it ain't worth much)

What's going on with these powders... are they, in fact twins? Why am I always the last one to know? :p

best,
