I have a 16ga Model 12 that I want to use for trap shooting. It has a 28" ribbed full choke barrel. The barrel is marked 2 3/4" and the barrel number matches the receiver serial number.

I just tried "Winchester 2 3/4" Super X #8 Game Loads". They shoot and pattern well but the fired cases are just a bit too long to go out the ejection port. They hang up against the front of the ejection port and have to be pried out.

What choices do I have to make this gun work properly with over the counter ammo suitable for trap shooting?

Try a couple others and see how things go. The Fed 16 stuff is hard to find but top quality.

Some fine guns stutter on cheap loads these days. Steel heads instead of brass, movable base wads, etc.

If all else fails, try the Polywad 2 1/2" loads. Not cheap, but top stuff and quite reloadable.

HTH....
