Kind of a surprise for my grandfather......He always wanted to restore it so I am gonna do it for him......I took it from his closet with the help of my grandmother(he never looks in there so he will never know)....I would like to make it a shooter again....I am not concerned about ruining the value since it will never be sold.....Was wondering if there is anywhere to get parts....The barrel look pretty crummy...very dirty and rusty...any info would help...thanks guys.....

You might google Numerich Arms, I believe they are out of NY state. They carry a vast inventory of parts on old and newer guns, easy site to navigate to look for your parts and quick order time. I,ve gotten small parts from them over the years and have been satisfied.

The M1890 and M1906 barrels are the same except that the 06 barrel is round. If money is no object, you might buy the octagon barrel and have a gunsmith turn it round. But check the dimensions first to be sure there is enough stock that the diameter across the flats is the same or larger than the 06 barrel.

Far better is to retain the original barrel & Winchester markings.
Send it to this guy for re-lining.

You won't be able to tell he did it, except it will have shiny new stainless-steel rifling.

As for the bad barrel?
I have the one my dad owned.
The bore looks like the inside of an old smokestack, but it shoots bug-hole groups at 50 yards.

Give it a good scrubbing with a bronze bore brush & solvent.
Followed by another good scrubbing with JB Bore Paste.

You may be pleasantly surprised at the results.

The barrel is screwed into the receiver.

The mag tube band dovetails are not dovetails.
DO NOT try to drive them out.
Pull the tube out, then rotate each band 90 degrees to release it from the barrel.
