That SN (which if I counted the many "X's" properly) is one million nine hundred and one thousand some odd) places it in early 1953. Nice vintage.

Thanks for the year of manufacture. The s/n is seven digits. My father paid $150 for it many years ago and gave it to me. I am not interested in selling it but I am curiuos about the fair market value.
Thanks again,
Bob

The M94 is the classic American carbine. The 30-30 will do for most things at moderate ranges. The 94s underwent major design revision in 1964 and the guns made before that date are considered superior and bring a premium on the used gun market. You will often see "Pre-64" in the description of such a gun being offered.

As with any gun condition is king. A really nice 1950s M94 would probably sell for $350 or so.

I have one about 150,000 units after yours. Most of the blue is gone from the receiver and the wood is far from perfect but it works fine. I paid $165 for it about 5 years ago and thought it a good deal.

Thanks for the info. The blueing on mine is in great shape with one or two light scratches that don't go through. The wood is in good shape but the previous owner loaned it to a friend who got board while deer hunting and carved a buck on the stock. Not very deep but probably doesn't help the gun's value.
Thanks for the info,
Bob

wow a dick. thats why i dont loan my guns to anyone... the only person the gets to use my guns is my brother and he takes better care of them then i do...

That's the literal definition of a "former friend". :D

I would think that in the condition described $350.00 is about right. It would have been $450.00 to $550.00 if the friend hadn't customized it. :banghead:

You might consider looking around for a period correct replacement stock. (steel butt plate)
