Yosimite.. tell us about you.. who are you training to use up that much ammo in one day? if you have had a few blowback incidents over 8 weeks, I cant see that being bad(Thats a million rounds for you dummies).. fill us in.

I have used WWB 9mm for a long time, (about 2 years), but now that I'm reloading I will say that WWB isn't as great as I thought. WWB have an ED of 106FPS the last time I tested it. My reloads have an ED of 25FPS.

That being said I've shot many other brands of of 9mm, and for target shooting, WWB was my favorite by far.

It's about all I shoot out of my handguns, and I've never had a problem.

Course, I've never had a problem with Blazer, Wolf, Golden Tiger, Remington UMC, or anything else for that matter.

Actually, never had any ammo problems whatsoever, except for a couple squib loads (verrrrry old rounds) when I was making sure my mom's Beretta .25ACP was still in working order.

I can tell you it didn't work at all in my friend's brand new Sig 229.

I've certainly had FTE issues with it in my CZ.

But usually it's the only stuff I can find that's reasonably affordable.

8 weeks, 7 days per week, is 56 days

56 x 25,000 = 1,400,000

Who you calling a dummy?

Mathematical antics and semantics aside, I don't think I've ever used it. Wal-Mart is an hour away from me, and I try not to support them anyway. I'm all for low prices, and would probably give them some money if they were in my backyard per se. But I would rather support my locally owned Bi-Mart retailer and they are in my backyard, so they get my money. Bi-Mart carries UMC green and yellow box, so that's what I use for plinking when I'm not rolling my own.

It is nice to hear that the quality control is good. And what gunshops do you guys frequent? Sure, my local gunshops have horrendous prices on ammo, but they are also in the same stripmall as a Bi-Mart. So, I buy guns from my gunstore, not ammo.

I've had no problems with the stuff

but I've only bought maybe 3 boxes, in .45 ACP. I reloaded some of the cases, but may have to toss a bunch because of ammonia embrittlement from cat urine. (Please don't ask.)

I have amused my self on occasion by drawing smily faces on the purty shiny fronts of the FMJ bullets with a sharpy.

Hey, it was late at night, I was bored, etc.!

I have alot of personal experience with Winchester white box ammo. Most of my experience is unfavorable. I've had powder blow back to the face several times (feels like someone is holding a sparkler to your face) and the powder charges seem to be inconsistent. This is especially noticeable at night. On a busy training day we shoot about 25,000 rounds of this stuff.

If you re-read my post, you'll see that I wrote that on a busy training day we shoot 25,000 rounds. To put it another way, we use 3 million rounds of Winchester 9mm annually.

For the average shooter I'm sure that Winchester is just fine. For an inexpensive training round it will work. I personally have had better experience with Federal. Federal has never caused powder blow back to my face.

The bad rap of WWB stems from the intro of the "USA" branding some 20 odd years ago. IIRC, the USA brand was somewhat distanced (in the packaging) from the 'Winchester' name; It had the 'Olin' name on the package however. This was all explained to younger-me by gun store clerks as being part of a cabal to sell cheap low quality ammo without besmirching the Winchester brand.

Now, of course, the USA branding has become less important. There may have been some thruth to the marketing of the stuff, that Olin wanted to wall off their budget line ammo from their main brand just like 'UMC' is distanced from Remington.

I have not heard any stories about WWB, but they will not run in my M&P 9MM. The stuff jams usually 2 times per magazine and I have noticed a couple of deformed bullets. Not knockin it, everything else works fine.
No trouble with Remington, S&B, even my own handloads never give me trouble - and that's with winchester WWB brass. Just the gun I guess.

I have used WWB quite a bit and have no complaints. While shooting my Browning HP in .40 S&W once, I ran a couple of magazines through the chronograph. Exteme spread of 10 fps :what:. It all went from about 994 to 1004 fps. SD of about 2 I think. I was quite impressed with that. Accuracy was excellent also. :D
