Wolf ammo & your AR15...

I just bought a full case of 1000 Q3131A Winchester for $169 out the door, at a local gun show. Wolf was only $30-40 cheaper. My pre-ban AR's are worth the extra $$..... to me anyway!

I've put somewhere around 2,300 rounds of wolf through mine with ZERO problems. That's better than I can say with any other bulk ammo.

It's been about 500 of their new stuff and before that was all the red coated stuff. Only problem was the smell but it went bang every time I pulled the trigger.

Had one jam that I can't blame on teh gun because my younger brother put his hand under the carry handle and effectivly held the ejection port cover closed.

My opinion only here... ARs are a military rifle. Designed to fire large amounts of ammo downrange. MIlitary doesn't buy expensive ammo. They shoot what works. Wolf works, may not be the exact same thing but it works.

"Why for, how come, are you banging your head?"

Because there isn't a symbol that mimics someone hanging themselves.

Like that, only with the rope around the neck and the rest of the body still present and accounted for. Crosses over the eyes would be a nice touch also.

How about a dead horse being beaten also. Or maybe the three monkeys: see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.

5,000 rounds+ of Wolf (old stuff and new Polymer) in my Bushy 20" A2 with no problems.

Wanna know the only ammo that's choked this gun? PMC. Expensive, brass cased PMC.

$89 per 1000 for Wolf.

$169 per 1000 for XM193.

Over the life of the upper, that's probably $1500 or more in savings using Wolf. That's 3 new Bushy uppers.

Sorry to put y'all out. I wasn't aware of Wolf's change with lacquer and didn't see it in the thread. Still learning (as the more I learn, I discover the less I know) and trying to make an educated decision about whether to use it in .223's, from people who know more and have more experience than I do. I prefer to gather as much information as possible before executing a decision...you know, it helps eliminate some of the more expensive trial-n-error experiences. I also thought somebody else who might be seeking same info could benefit from what I found.

If Ii can afford it, I buy WWB, but usually all I can afford is wolf. When my dad bought our sp1 in the early 80's he ran norinco through it, up until the late 90's. Since then its had its share of wolf, s&b, winchester, and a bit of various milsurp all without problems related to the ammo itself. Local shop sells wolf for $2.88/20, and next cheapest is the new polymer cased stuff(which is very nice,my ar loved it) at $4.89/20. If I was looking for accuracy I would only buy the high quality, but since all I really do is plink wolf is just fine for me. My ar's had steel case run through it most of its life without any problems, and I see no reason at all to change.

No problem posting something that has been discussed in the past. One suggestion: check out the search function at the top right of the page, you can search for the topic of Wolf ammo and you will find thousands of posts on the subject. Anything you wanted to know should be there. If not, feel free to ask.
One pointer on this subject or any other. As you read the posts, pay attention to the people who say they have actually done something or actually own the product. Many of the posts reference something they heard, or something that happened to their friends brother's cousin's next door neighbor. Many people just repeat something they read elsewhere on-line. Obviously someone who has actually tried the product themselves has more to offer than someone who is just posting something they heard.

I'll shoot it just for blasting ammo but the accuracy is bad.

I've been shooting it the last three days, along with reloads and factory ammo.

A case was given to me and when it's gone I doubt I'll get any more.
