Woman screaming for help last night

oh the irony
Do you have anything helpful to add to the discussion besides smart remarks?

The fact is that while a defensive spray may make a dog back off if it's chasing you or getting aggressive with you, a dog that is defending it's territory, or a dog that is trying to kill something, especially certain breeds, will brush off those sprays as if they were nothing.

The fact is

is this a true fact? or more of the previous/usual? its hard to tell for us.

the irony was in the "wonder if any of you owned dogs" cause i know at least some were wondering about your extensive background. we await enlightenment most eagerly and expect big things.

fobus paddle for the PJ's
i gotta have a belt or learn to run with pants down. or that awkward hold em up with one hand thing and i'm slow enough already.

Well, cassandrasdaddy, you obviously have some sort of personal grudge against me. I've personally seen dogs ignore defensive sprays and have heard plenty of first hand accounts from people I know. If you feel that such a spray is sufficient for dealing with an attacking pitbull, best of luck. I've had enough of your childish jams, so I'm putting you on my ignore list. Don't expect any more responses from me.

I own 2 dogs... what do you want to know? 1yo German Shepard mix, and 2 yo Standard American Bulldog...

Yes, bull dog breeds and pits have very high pain tolerances, so I dont know that a bat would have done any good unless you literally split its head open, they are not "vicious" in terms of attacking for the sake of attack, they will attack to mitigate a threat or other attack, but they arent going to chase you down the street if you are running away.

My thought is that the JR did something to basically offend and threaten the pit, and the pit responded to mitigate the "threat"... I still dont think it was trying to kill the JR, or it would have been dead before the woman could even utter the first scream...

"My thought is that the JR did something to basically offend and threaten the pit".

Terriers attack rodents. Pit bulls attack dogs and humans.

Headline: "Jack Russell terrier mauls defenseless schoolchildren." Not likely.

Dogs are dangerous, but it isn't impossible to succeed in a fight with one.

Remember, the roman venatores killed lions, antelopes, with their bare hands, and even leopards.

I wouldn't want a bat in a dog fight. With an ax you could kill it if neccessary or give it a mighty blow with the reverse side.

best options....

I haul cows. My hotshot goes home with me. just drop the two little brass tabs straight on it's maraccas, and depress the trigger. zap YELP! ::run:: very effective.

I see a dog? city or no, I grab the M1 carbine. As well as a shooty end, I got a beaty end too. Buttstroke right outta infantry school. Takes the fight outta an eight weight calf in a hurry. Alternately you can install a bayonet and augment the shooty end with stabby. Unfortunately I don't have a bayonet for my carbine.

Flashlights are great, but the classic black maglite is really easy to lose. I'm missing three in my house. This is gonna sound stupid, But I like the fisher price flashlights. They have a handle, so I can include them in my forearm grip. They're tough. They use standard bulbs, and you have access to a red filter with the twist of a knob.

Robe with big pockets.. makes you look like a cheese-nob, but is a great place to jam a pistol.

In ending, a police sap is a good tool for dogs. I also keep a fireplace poker by my door... with the shotguns, rifles, trench knife, and golf club that live there

You need to read up some more on dogs before you say something to make yourself sound any more ignorant... I have included some information for you to make it easier...

How's this for a terrier?

Or this?

Ok, last one... and yes, these are the 3 breeds known in slang as "pitbulls"...

Regardless of what breed the sons dog is... proper training and care and socialization are key to how a dog's personality develops.

Well, I think we've wandered sufficiently far afield, across the fence, off the right of way and over the bar ditch on this one.
