I won it in one of those "buy a calendar for $50 to support the National Wild Turkey Federation" things.
My number came up on December 6th and I picked it up on Christmas Eve, a Browning A-Bolt III Hunter in .308 and walnut stock.
I will go later this week and pick up a scope and some ammo.
Looking for scope suggestions and opinions on the rifle.
Not wanting to spend a lot of money on the scope setup, but I'd like something decent.
Vortex, Sig Sauer and Leupold are some I've been looking at.

I'd have to look at Tract:

Japanese made with Schott HT glass. I have two Tracts and they perform well.

Congratulations on the win. Browning is the best there is. Must be as that’s their motto. As I type this I’m wearing a browning sweatshirt and hat

Hopefully yours is as accurate as my X-Bolt 7 mag. A rifle as nice as yours deserves a decent scope IMO. I have a VX-6 2-12x42 If I were looking to keep cost down I’d take a hard look at a Burris.

Congrats on the win. 🙂
I am real happy with the Hog Hunter ( Crossfire 3-12x56) on my A-bolt .270. Would be a good fit for that .308 also.🙂
Edited. 3-12 , not 3-15.!

It is all about what you are willing to spend. I think the rifle deserves something in the $500-700 range. I just bought two of these (one for my brother who is a Zeiss/Swarovski or don't bother guy) and we are both VERY impressed.

But this one might be better for you.

Mostly target shooting, maybe a deer or coyote here and there.

You are really going to need to decide how much you want to spend on the glass. That Burris someone posted above is intriguing at $500. I don’t have any experience with it, but was deciding between it and a vortex viper hst a while back. I went with the vortex because of familiarity but I’m not convinced I chose correctly.

I don’t know anything about Tract, but that scope looks intriguing too. I’d probably opt for the model with “long range kit” to get the dialable turret. That really might be worth trying if you’re willing to try a direct to consumer company.

If you don’t want to spend that much, the Vortex Diamonback tactical is a decent budget “tactical” scope with dialable turrets and a ffp reticle. I would stay away from the vortex crossfire.

While I love Leupold scopes on a dedicated hunting rifle, you’ll get more “features” at the same price point from Vortex and some others.

If you are willing to spend more than $500, there are lots of options.

What don't you like about the Crossfire?
I was looking at that one on Cabela's website.
Mostly looking at Cabela's because I have some points on my Cabela's card and a gift card as well

Sample size of one on the crossfire: turrets and lens coatings suck. If you get it zeroed, leave it alone and don’t change loads. The turrets on mine weren't repeatable. Like, changing zeros for different loads was a pita. Also, low light performance was not great and glare was terrible. Glass is sharp in good conditions, and I didn’t have trouble with it holding zero. But I think the diamondback is a significant step up for not a lot more money. I still have my crossfire, but it now lives on my daughter’s 22.

I will head to Cabela's after work today and hopefully find one there.
You guys have given me a lot to think about, thanks for the advice.
I will probably be perusing the Cabela's website in my spare time today. I see some I'd like to have, but they want used car prices for them, so I move down to the more realistically priced glass.

Sig Sauer Buckmaster, anybody used one?
They have a Sig scope and range finder combo under $300, so I'm assuming it's not really top of the line.
