A friend of mine asked me last night about a PPK his dad found among his grandfather's belongings years ago. I told him that I don't know much at all about old guns, but I can ask online about websites that might have information about WWII weapons. Google searching has only turned up online stores for vintage memorabilia and new parts for old guns.
So here is what he said he knows about it. His grandpa had mentioned a PPK that he had "from the war", the finish has turned somewhat plum colored, his dad has not found any trophy/capture papers, and the grip and "pinkie extension" on the magazine are green/tan camo. That last part seems kind of weird, but he says that his dad found it that way, and that his grandfather had told him the grip was on it when he got it.
My friend is trying to have his dad send him some decent pictures of it, but I figured that it doesn't hurt to ask if anyone knows some good websites for more information.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, because my curiosity is drivine me crazy.
