World's strongest press mount?

I went a little nutty, some may say. I decided I wanted a rock solid mount for my Lee Load Master press.

So the first thing I did, of course, was cut a hole through my basement floor.



I dug the hole larger than the hole in the floor. That way the cement I poured would "lock in" under the floor



I got a steel plate. I made a cutout in the front of it for the ram. This allowed me to move the press further back so the two front mount holes would be further from the edge of the plate.



I had it welded on top of a 2" steel pipe with pretty think walls. I put a 3/8" bolt through near the bottom to help anchor the post in the cement.



This is the finished product. Now all I have to do is build a bench around it.:banana:

I don't know mine's pretty robust. it's made from 1/2" plate has a QD feature and is mounted to a 300LB hardwood GOVT surplus desk. I've ripped the rim offin a few cases with this one.

That oughta hold it. I though I was into overkill. I put axels in the concrete I poured for a swing in the back yard.

No lava, but I pulled some really big rocks out of that little hole (the hole is about 7" square).

Comes to mind. Don't mention it to Joe Biden! And don't send it in to the Republican You Tube Debates. I just mounted mine to a 4x4 under my new bench. While you were down there you should of put in the underground bunker, I did. [ 8x8 concrete septic tank]. I installed it under my Steel shipping container. You go man!

Nice setup - what the setup really needs is an isolated concrete pad mount for a powder measure to be both rigid and vibration free - it really matters for a powder measure.

I broke a rockchucker.
I sent the pieces back to RCBS.
They sent me an entirely new rockchucker.
It did not take much force.
I got the collet die dialed in for right at top dead center.

Yeah, I've been married for 34 years. My wife never goes downstairs any more since I built her a laundry room up here. She knows I've been doing something down there, I woke her up twice with my hammering. She doesn't know I cut a hole in the floor though.

Darwin, I will have to agree with you on that. My wife doesn't go in the basement either (it's spooky). I have my own 3 dungeon rooms with my computer. vintage stereo equipment, my tools and all of my gun stuff. She has put up with me for over 24 yrs so I guess she is a keeper.

Ummmmmmm. . . I'm at a loss for words.

That mount makes my Dillon RL-550B and my RCBS RockChucker and two (2) MEC 600 Jr presses on my 2x6 workbench look anemic.


What are you going to load, that needs all of that support???????

Impressive work!

Overkill is not a bad thing unless obtaining it precludes other improvements that make a bigger difference. A lot of work in that, and not a lot of money, so I say great. Probably not the choice I'd make, but that's what makes life interesting.

darwin, I can see why it was hard to drill those holes. I've tried to drill 3/8" holes with a rotary drill with "masonry" bit. It doesn't work. You had the perfect excuse to buy yourself a hammer drill...
