Spend a lot of time down around that area, hunting grounds every fall. Lots of family and friends down there in Gunnison and Redmond.

Good outcome in a bad situation, I just hope the woman that was forced to pull the trigger is handling it well. Pulling a robbery down there would be flat out risky any time as about 2/3rds of the folks are usually armed in one fashion or another. Looks like the guy was aware of this and tried to time it right and still lost.

I doubt very highly that the guy was a local. Although there is a growing drug problem among the younger folks down that way, so it's possible he was a resident crack head I guess.

Side note:
Neat folks thataway-
You ought to see the Centerfield cemetery on Memorial Day. Takes us a couple hours to put up all the flags in the morning(literally two full size pick-up beds full of them go up, and it's a small cemetery.) And the towns in the whole county litterally shut down the day the Triple Duece unit came home from overseas.

Just got off the phone. I was wrong, the guy was a local. That actually makes sense though. He waited for the lowest risk factor with the highest payout possible.

This stuff is hard on folks. Now there are two families down that way with heavy burdens.:(

I just watched that video again and found another lesson:
If the bad guy makes you tie up your co-worker, don't use your best knot tying skills. It looks like the woman that grabbed the gun was able to get the rope off her wrists in less than a second. So it really was quick thinking on the part of both clerks.

That was my first thought, but then I wondered where would come from if he wasn't. Fayette? Axtell? Mayfield? :)

But, they did identify him as "Centerfield resident Antonio Ramos, 42".

To give you guys an idea of how rural this area is, check out this quote: "This is the first robbery Jensen has ever dealt with in his 10 years on the force in Centerfield, which is located south of Gunnison. "
