Would you buy a used LE Glock?

A local dealer has several Glock 19s that were turned in from various police departments. They look to be in good shape with minimal wear. They come with two high capacity mags and night sights. The price is about $375.

This seems like a fair deal, but I'd appreciate opinions on buying something like this.

I would almost bet they have been shot very little. Most of the cops I know only go to the range just before they have to qualify, then the gun is holstered for the next year.

A local dealer had them from $319 to $350. They with three mags but I do not remember if they had night sights or not.
Still, if they had not had alot of rounds maybe???

I would say go for it. I bought a police trade-in Glock 23 with ns at the local gun show for 350 and it shoots perfect. Only problem mine had a NY trigger spring but I already changed that.

With a local, at least you can see what you are getting. Back when I was a dealer (early 90's), I bought several former police Model 10's from S.O.G. and it was hit and miss. The worst were OK, the best were pretty good.

Heck yes! That's a great price. I pay $489.00 for the G26, G19, G17 sizes, and $529.00 for the G20 & G21 sizes. Those all have fixed "plastic" sights.

The local dealer used to have g17 trade-ins for $300. It's been a while since I've seen any under $350 though.

My first G19 (and my first Glock) was a second generation LE trade-in. Lots of holster wear on the slide. Frame was in great shape, a scratch or two but nothing serious. I've had it 10 years and it's still going strong. Advantages are price and the finish is already worn, so I tend to not be as worried about scratching it.

I got my first one over ten years over. It was a LE trade in Glock 19.
Darn thing looked brand new save for one tiny holster mark. Today, it still looks and functions like new. BTW, ii it one of the E series LE Glocks?

My next purchase is going to be a LE trade-in GLOCK 19.

As has been mentioned, most LE guns are worn a lot, shot a little.

I would have no problem with a LE trade in glock as others have said they will probably have more holster wear and very few rounds. I guess I would be worried about the fact that it would be more likely to have been banged around and bumped against things but as long as the finish is in decent shape it should not be an issue.

Was a glock 22 still have it and shoot it with a 357 Sig barrel in it also.

Sure, I'd buy it! Most of the time, the LE guns are only used to qualify with and spend the rest of the time in a holster. Most are well maintained with very little wear. Two of my favorite guns are my CPO Sig 226 that was date-coded '89 and spent some time in federal hands before going back to Sig for refinishing and resale...and my latest gun is a LE trade-in S&W 6904 9mm that looks like it was hardly ever fired, great gun, minimal wear.

Unless they came from departments that require a lot of shooting they are probably in great shape internally. Most cops aren't gunnies and only shoot for qualification once or twice per year. Pick the one with the least holster wear, check the internals to make sure that they're ok, take it home.
