I'll admit I am usually not a .380 fan. The LCP, however, makes it easy to carry in the hotter weather when you can't wear an overshirt, or coat of some type. Very easy to conceal. If you aren't going to sit down, then hip pocket carry is very easy. If I can wear a light jacket (or something like it) I prefer my .357sig, or a small .45.

My 2 primary carry guns.. P3AT with a DeSantis pocket holster, but whenever possible a S&W 442 in a paddle holster. Sometimes something bigger or with more capacity, usually something like a Colt model 1903 or a hi-cap 9MM..

The 38 special +P is ...

as low in power I would go for a carry gun , even in hot weather. The S&W 642 or Ruger LCR are ideal with Gold Dot +P or the FBI load. I am carrying the Ruger LCR now with +P , but if they come out with a 357 magnum , like the LCR, I will probably switch to it. Yes, they hurt, but they are not range guns. They have a higher probability of stopping the bad guy.

I have 9mm and .40 cal alternatives available, but I almost always carry my Sig P238 these days. Pocket carry makes my life a lot easier, and I have a high degree of confidence in its reliability and my accuracy shooting it.

However, I have to admit a bias toward semis over revolvers, for no other reason than their (generally) greater capacity and flatness, which makes concealment easier.

I just bought a PF9, It could be easily pocket carried-if I could find a decent pocket holster. the Nemesis sucks and the Grandfather Oak Pocket Companions are back ordered 8 weeks.

If I had to carry a .380, it would be loaded with flat nose FMJ's
I would feel decently armed with one, but the small 9's work just as well for me.
