WOW Look at this old Savage!

It's going for over $17,000 right now!

I knew Savage made an autoloader a long time ago, but for some reason I thought it was in .32 ACP/ 7,65 Browning.

Definitely among the last Words in coolness.

Finding spare Magazines though...is a bee-hatch.

I sure would love to have that Savage! Wow...

There was a .45 ACP Luger Also at that time which is a whole buncha cool also.

Hatcher said the Savage was a notably hard kicker because the Searle system with 5 degree barrel rotation was not much more than retarded blowback. He said the Remington Model 53 with the Pedersen internal breechblock was a softer shooter.

That pretty much defines cool right there. Are not too many of them around. I guess 200 were sold though per the auction.

I think the 45 ACP Luger mentioned earlier is the only one known to exist as the other one was destroyed. I think it sold for something around a one with six zeros after it.

This Savage wont fetch that much but I bet it goes for a fair sum more than what it is at now.

Is it a featured auction?

It would seem something like this would deserve some sort of special attention because of its historical significance.

I would love to find a Savage 1907 32 ACP in that kind of condition.

Well I've certainly never seen one of those before!

I can't tell: is the ejection port directly on top or is it slightly offset (see photo 21).

I'd love to see either the real thing fire or even a decent CG rendering of it's cycling action.

Imagine if that had won the trials. We might be staring in awe at a 1911 the same way we're staring at the Savage.

Thanks for the post. What a cool find.

Take care,
DFW1911

Actually, I believe that one Luger was basically destroyed in testing and the other was kept pristine as a backup, but I also read that there are .45 examples in Europe that are numbered as high as 17 to the low 20's. This is cool, I was expecting one of the Infamous auctions, like a certain members $1,000,000 .45 round GB auction.

On a side note, If you want it, you could purchase the remaining AMT Automag parts and machining from him, He is basically liquidating what remained.

Neat! You could dress it up with a beavertail, a rail, extended slide stop - maybe a refinish in black chrome...

What? What? Did I say something wrong?

Imagine if that had won the trials. We might be staring in awe at a 1911 the same way we're staring at the Savage.
Thats what I thought when I first heard of this pistol.

I wish the Navy had felt free to go with the Remington. But we were in WW I and there was no budget or time for new small arms. After the War to End All Wars, well, we didn't need a new gun, did we?

I read a long thread on another board about the .45 Luger. Some sources think there were six made and that three survive. But can you get the owners to show them off?

Wow, to think that we were so close to having THAT GUN instead of the 45 we have all come to recognize and know!

That indeed is a real piece of history and is worth more than they are asking.
I bet someone with much money to spend will end up with it perhaps at 50% or more over the current price. I would be surprised if it doesn't!

The more I look at it the more "Futuristic" it looks!

That is a wow, all right -- and especially when you consider the fact that the bid is currently up to $21,100. It's a beautiful piece, however, in stunning condition.

Yep, selling off Dad's stuff, that would be so hard to do. My Dad specifically forbid any auctioning of his tools. Still have them today. Some I have not touched and still have his greasy prints on them.

WOW! That is simply an outstanding example of American firearms design, engineering, and craftsmanship, from a bygone era. Thank you Dr. Rob for the link.
