When I have voted for who I want to see on the NRA Board of Directors, I have voted for Ted Nugent and for Roy Ennis of C.O.R.E. anytime they are on the ballot.
For most of the others I look at background, what they have done, and try to get diversity, since my interests in guns is historical and design collection, curios and relics, hunting, target shooting, civilian marksmanship practice, self-defense.
My judgement in selecting board members to get my vote is also colored by the Tennessee constitution and law tradition that citizens have a right to keep and bear arms, the legislature has the power to regulate with a view to prevent crime, but by court ruling and attorney general opinion the legislation must impact crime without undue infringement on lawful, traditional keeping and usage of arms.
