I've come across some, what appears to be 9mm brass cases, that have a head stamp of "X-TREME ST". I've happened to noticed that this stuff will attract to a magnet. Is this brass plated steel cases that have boxer primer pockets? Even though sizing dies, brass trimmer cutters, chamfer tools, etc. are carbide, wouldn't these type cases cause damage to the reloading equipment? I've most likely also got other calibers of what appears to be brass cases with the "X-TREME ST" head stamp. I'll also check for them later.

Thanks,

There are several brands of brass plated steel cases with Boxer primers. They are very tough to run through the dies. So I now pass a strong magnet over a tray of tumbled brass and discard any steel it picks up, even if Boxer.

That's a good idea to check for steel cases. In the past, I've just peeked down in the case to determine the primer type. Most steel cases that I've come across have bredan type primers. But it is a good idea to use a good strong magnet to help sort through the brass.
