Hi, who carries a XD-S?

Do they fit you better than a Glock or M&P?

I own and occasionally carry an XDs in .45ACP. It has the Powder River spring kit in it and it's a great shooter. Mine has never failed to function correctly. I can't compare it to a Glock or an M&P because I don't have either of those. Compared to my H&K USP Compact, the XDs is easier to carry because it is smaller. It's a little thicker, but that's not a problem. I use a leather paddle holster (Wild Bill's Concealment) and the gun is so unobtrusive that I sometimes forget it's there. The only gun I have that approaches the comfort of the XDs is my H&K USP Compact in 9mm, even with a full 13 round magazine.

I'm generally a 1911 guy and usually carry a 4" in either .38 Super or .45. Lately though, I've carried the XDs simply because of its size, and it's a lot lighter than my 1911s, as they have steel receivers. It really is nice to carry.

Whether it "fits me" better? Not sure what you mean.

Edit: and in reference to your "CZ" handle... I also have a CZ75 Compact and love it! It's almost as nice to carry as the XDs, but not quite. :)

Not only that the XDS fit the hand better, but the craftsmanship are much better too.
I don't have any Glock therefore no comment, but the Shield is spongy trigger, slide cycling is way too stiff for me after thousand of rounds and only cc better.
The XDS has fiber optic front sight right out of manufacture and higher resale value.
Just my 2 cents.

I have a 3.3" XD-s .45 (since 13Aug13) and also a G30s (27Sep14) and a G19G4 (25Oct14).

For concealed carry, I prefer the XD-s due to its smaller size.

IMO, the Gen4 grip treatment & size/shape on the G19 is close to perfect, as-is ... I have added bicycle-inner-tube sleeves to the grips of the other 2.

I have found the G30s to be the most comfortable .45acp semi-auto that I own (aside from the XD-s & G30s I own 4 1911s or Variants and 2 Star PDs).

FWIW, the XD-s is what I am carrying almost all of the time.

The XDs is my small summer carry. It wears well in just about any light holster. I like it's slim size. I don't like the trigger but it's workable and has the great fiber optic front sight.

Mid-size guns fit my hand better (XDM and glock 19) and I shoot them better than my XDs. I prefer to carry my XDM because it's a perfect shooter but in the heat of summer if I want to go with a lighter carry the XDS is a perfect carry size....it just doesn't fit my hand as well so I lose a bit of accuracy along with less rounds. It's a trade off I'm willing to accept occasionally in the summer.

I've been carrying one since November of 2012. It's a great shooter and carries very easily.

I don't care for m&ps or Glocks so it suits me well. I wear xl gloves and the trigger reach is good for me.

I have carried and Xds in 9mm since 2010 I have worked in the security field in Pa. with an act 235 license so I carry mine pretty much daily. I like the quality and right out the box trigger. I'm not the biggest guy out there so I like the way it fits me. I never had an M&P but I have had a Glock. I prefer it over the Glock for many reasons one of is that I reload and you can do that with Xds.

I don't own or carry one. But the XDS .45 is the most unique and excellent gun Springfield makes. I loved shooting it. Needs a plain black rear sight though, maybe a Sevigny carry, if available for the XDS. I doubt I would have as much fun with the 9mm version.

I don't see how CCW'ing one could be any trouble.

The XDS has been my EDC for just about 3 yrs. I like it so much I have bought a second , they are both the 3.3 45. This gun suits me best over several other guns that I have now or sold. Mine are shot a lot and 100 % reliable with any brand ammo or my reloads. Very easy to carry/conceal. The right holster can make a big difference on how well it will carry for anyone. Overall, a really great gun for carry.

Unpleasant grip texture and nasty recoil characteristics (at least in .45.) One of the very few guns for which I've ever developed a serious dislike.

I have the XD-S 9mm as well as the Shield and a Glock 26 and 36. I carry the Shield most of the time but could just as easily carry the springfield. I like them both. In my opinion they are so close I could grab either and not notice the difference in a N82 tactical holster.
I think I shoot the XD-S a little better and I like the way the grip safety comes off on the draw with no effort on my part. Ain't going to part with any of them. They all work.

I carried the XDs 45 on and off for about 2 years. I didn't like the grip, recoil was no problem. Switch over to a Sig P220 Compact SAS. Yes it's heavier, but with the right holster it carries easily.

The XDs ergonomics are vastly superior to the glock. I've irritated the glock "fan boys" telling them that the XD is the gun the glock could have been if they had kept improving it.

I have a XDS 45. Didn't like the grips so, I put Talon grips on it. Don't like the trigger so, I put in the Powder River Spring Kit. Didn't really notice a difference.
Can't seem to hit anything with it, I know it's me cause I shot it from a tripod and it shot fine.
Don't have any problem with any of my other pistols. Just can't seem to get into this one. Can't feel the love. May have to get rid of it.
On the other hand, just bought a SA Mod 2 Subcompact in 45, put a Powder River trigger in it, it's sweet.
(side note, all of my SA XD's have Powder River triggers in them)

I bought the first XDs. Here is my take on them. As far as the 9mm version goes, it is too heavy compared to similar single stack guns. It felt too heavy in my pocket. My Sig P938 and Kahr PM9, for example, are quality guns that are lighter and carry better. Springfield's ad focus on the guns' thinnest but it is like saying that a dime is thinner so it is easier to carry in your pocked than a nickel. A fraction of an inch does not matter plus so many people I know, buy thin guns and then carry them in bulky holsters. At 23 ounces, the XDS 9mm is much heavier than most single stack guns.

In the .45 version, I found the recoil to feel excessive compared to my two 3" .45 acp guns. The reason was that when you have a thin grip, the recoil is concentrated into a smaller area and is then felt more than a gun with a fatter grip. I sold that one too. I also had to focus on holding it tight. If I relaxed my hand a little, I could make it jam. I could not guarantee that I would be able to have a proper very tight grip on the gun under all circumstances. My other guns were much more forgiving.

You are comparing a single stack gun to double stacks. The single stack will always carry better. However, if you compare the XDS to other single stacks, it is much heavier and therefore not easier to carry than my single stack 9mm guns. For the .45 version, it is a nice small size for that caliber but it comes at a price.

I mainly carry single stack 9mm guns. My single stack guns like the Sig P938 and Glock 43, fit nicely into my pocket and are lighter than an XDS. Did you know that the XDS 9mm weighs more than the .45 version, empty? Less metal in the barrel due to the bigger hole, is the reason. the gun frames and triggers are the same.

I do not think that they are bad guns. In fact, they are well made guns for their price point and very good for belt carry. However at 23 ounces, I can belt carry a lot of other guns that are lighter and also carry them in my pocket with ease. As far as the .45, I found it too heavy for pocket carry and too light for a small .45. If I am going to belt carry, I can carry bigger and heavier guns to reduce the recoil. Just my opinion on these two guns. As I said, they are good guns that will work well for most. I just have different preferences in single stack guns just as I favor all metal to polymer.

I carry an XDs .45 3.3 in a Remora holster most of the year.
When it gets cold (as cold as central Florida gets) or I'm wearing a sports coat, I sometimes switch to an XDm 3.3 9mm with the full size (19 round mag) frame in the SA paddle holster.

I've been packing the XDm lately because of the terrorist crap going on. I keep 2 spare mags for the 9mm and a shorty AR-15 with 4 spare mags in the car.

I love my XDs 9mm. it's my primary off duty gun, and depending on mood, my S&W M&P Shield in .40 or my favorite, Colt Commander .45.....

My duty gun is an XD .40 and we are going to Glocks soon, not sure on number yet.

As far as hand fitment, I like the Shield and XDs about the same. My Colt Commander fits me best :D

I have an XDs 3.3" 45ACP and a Glock 30. Love the G30 - its the best shooting 45 I have, followed closely by the XDs. That said, the XDs is the one I carry constantly. I agree with what others have said about the grips and recoil. I solved that problem by using the Pachmayr Tactical Grip Glove. Keeps the grips from biting into your hand.

Its easy to forget that you're carrying the XDs. Every now and then, I'll find myself heading out to the mailbox without my cover shirt. The G30, not so much - kind of like carrying a brick....
