Id suggest www.safariland.com www.wrightleatherworks.com www.hodgescustomkydex.com www.blade-tech.com .
The Predator leather holster from Wright Leather Works is great. Hodges Kydex comes in several styles/camo prints. Blade-tech is a high quality label. They may have holsters for the 5.25" XDm pistol.

If you aren't happy with those picks, see the Bianchi Intl UM92 II series. It's safe, can be converted to different belts, worn different ways. The US armed forces have used the M12 Bianchi since the mid 1980s for the M9 9x19mm.

Thanks for the replies so far. That Double-Alpha holster looks nice.

Otto- I don't shoot competitively. I am looking for a better holster than what came with it for hiking and hunting.

Most holsters have open bottoms so slide length does not matter all that much. I have put XD 5" barrels in a holster made for my XD 4" barrel. Just more slide sticks out the bottom but the profile is overall the same.

If this is for hiking I definitely recommend getting a holster that totally covers the muzzle.

I was carrying my S&W 686 in a belt holster and needed to climb down some rocks. I was off trail and playing on a ridge near my home. I slipped and fell about a foot and a half. No big deal. But the muzzle of my revolver would have needed to be re-crowned if I didn't have the gun on a proper holster. The leather got banged up, but the gun is fine.

I would never use a holster where the gun sticks out of the bottom except for on the range. JMO

I carry my 3.8" XDm (.40 caliber) in a shoulder holster most of the time. They're great for hiking IMO. I have a CrossDraw SuperTuck for it that I use sometimes but if I want an IWB carried gun I generally go ahead and carry a .45. I think you'd be happy with a good shoulder holster. They don't weigh you down in an odd way the way any belt holster can do. I use a holster that balances the weight of the gun by carrying extra mags on the other side of my chest. It's a good system. It's also great for riding an ATV or something like that. I use Ace holsters for that although I've never trusted their snaps. I modify their holsters and put my own fastening device on them. I generally sew a quick release strap across the grip of the holster. It's much more secure than a snap can ever be and they're just as fast to operate. I carry my .44 mag S&W 629 in a shoulder holster too and it has an 8 3/8" barrel on it. That's what I carry in the woods ever since the bears showed up in my area. You just never know when you might need to stop a bear. I don't expect it but I'd rather be prepared just in case. There are now a LOT of bears where my house and my farm are. I've been threatened by more than a couple of them too.

Outdoor use/camping-hiking.....

If the main use(s) of the holster will be for hiking or field use, Id say the best choice would be a Bianchi Intl UM92II in black or OD. The M12 holster could work too. You might find one at a army/navy shop or gun show bin.
The UM92II can be worn with a flap or without. You can add a thumb snap. You can wear the pistol on your leg(SAS or drop leg style), tanker(chest) or shoulder. The holsters are easy to clean(I used liquid laundry soap or hand soap).
The front of the M12/UM92II has a cleaning rod too to help clean any obstructions/cleaning in the field.
