Walked in.... Shook the nice man's hand, said I would like an XDm 9mm sir.... he said "got a preference?" i said NOPE... i'll take that one right there.

10 minutes later I walk out with a new gun that holds more than 10 rounds of ammo, that is not on the "California Approved Handgun List" and no waiting 10 days for it either :)

I think i will purchase my first EBR later today, im thinking something in .223 :p

Going to take it to the Range today and give it a workout... test a few different JHP's and see how things go from there. Anyone shooting one find they like they like a certain taste of ammo? Also, they didn't have any with night sights so I am looking into a few different brands to put on there... Thinking XS Big Dot but since i think this will be more of a target/range gun and not a carry piece that i should go with traditional 3 dot target sights. Suggestions?

Thanks

JOe

Congrats! Texas is GOOOOOD! Out of curiosity, why do you want to put night sights on a range pistol? Are you going to use it for home defense at any point?

Its your pistol so your choice, but I was just curious...

Thanks!
V.

The night sights would be for home defense, yes.

The range i was a member in while i lived in CA was an indoor range that was very very poorly lit, so Night sights were a very useful upgrade...

I just used some Lum-Tec and Epoxy powder on them for now

"That's right you're not from Texas, but Texas wants you anyway."

Welcome to the Lone Star State sir. Enjoy your stay and be safe.

You made a great choice. I can't help but grab my friend's XDm 9 and shoot it every time I go out, just cause it's so darn nice shooting, even at 25 yards.

Heck, I shoot it better than some of my own guns.

I have the same XDm you have - all black with a Streamlight TLR-2 underneath. I do wish the XDm came with night sights, but it is an easy enough upgrade.

I've shot PMC, WWB, Georgia Arms, Gold Dot and Winchester Supreem Elite with no hiccups. Probably put 700 - 800 rounds through it in the 5months since I bought it. Love the gun.

you made an excellent purchase...I'm more of a 1911 guy and I have 2 9mm XDm pistols...

OD green/ black and black/stainless

doesnt make a difference what you shoot through them...mine have both shot everything I've put into them...and shot well at that

Photo #5 is excellent. What camera, lens, f stop and lighting did you use?

I'm not a fan of XDs, but that's OK, Texas is big enough for different opinions. Welcome , and let's all salute the Lone Star. One of the advantages of being a teacher, I get to recite the pledge 175+ days a year.

next thing you the OP will be buying Firecrackers and Mortars and blowing stuff up.. and have Fun doing it.. !yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee haw. have fun there.. and welcome to the good old state of Texas ,
disclaimer.. I do not now but have in the past lived under 6 flags. maybe.

Welcome home. I like the XD, I like the watch (I'd like one of those myself), and I like the photos too. When I see that "Not Legal in California" sticker....it's almost like I get happy and mad at the same time. I'm happy I don't live there and I'm mad they can get away with that crap. Heck, even most lawnmowers have that sticker on them these days (really).

Living in California I pray at night someone will come rescue me. I am alone in a foreign land.
Congrats on the XDm. It is on my list of "must have at least 1". Just recently got my hands on a HK45, also not on the "not a non dangerous weapon list" AKA California safe list. My quest for a HK45 took me into deep dark hallways using secret handshakes, hidden doors while being blindfolded. <jk> I then met a LEO and was able to do a PPT. It was more than a 10min. affair. More like 10, 24hr periods. with more than MSRP ransom.

As for the night sights, if you can't see the sights can you see what you are pointing the pistol at? I have never understood the benefit of night sights. I understand you can see them in the dark but if thats all you can see it doesn't help does it?

nice job moving out of the PRK :D

cali is one of the states that i would absolutely NOT live in.
