I fairly recently received my XLR Carbon Series Chassis and I'm in final production of my YouTube video showing my initial range results out to 1000 yards. My initial comments are that the chassis is manufactured from outstanding quality and workmanship (followed-up with unsurpassed customer service!) It is exceedingly quick/easy to install, and performance/accuracy have been exceptional. From a pure cosmetic perspective, the Carbon Series carries a definite “Wow Factor” from fellow shooters, which is repeated every time I bring it out of my Galati drag bag. That wow factor continues, as the repeatable long-range weapon system performance is registered by curious observers. It would be very easy to spend double/triple the price of this weapon system for similar half MOA (or less) performance “accomplished using Factory OTM ammo” @ $18 a box. My only question to those who choose to do so, is; “Why?”

yep, i love those XLR, especially the carbon model with their new folder hardware. mine isn't the carbon fiber, and has the older ace folding stock hardware.

but to answer your question (since you asked), to get a better action :)

Yep. The XLRs are awesome. Love them. Haven't seen a carbon model in person yet but I am impressed. I think I can get a discount through work and am going to get my Savage guy to see if we can get one of these in 6.5Creedmoor. If so I am on it like white on rice. That rifle and this chassis for extremely good performance under $2000!!!!! Might even be well under that. I am thinking I much be able to do this for $1500!

I agree with Taliv if you spend more its soley for a better action and maybe a better barrel but there is nothing the Savage can't do that any other rifle can. I have another Sako and a Tikka coming. I wonder which out of the 3 will have the better feeling action. And I am seriously considering sendin off one of the TRGs to have an XLR made for it!

True taliv! :)
Yes (of course I agree) that there are many rifles out there with buttery-smooth actions, just as there are rifles that are “works of art!” Will that buttery-smooth action make my bullet holes closer together at 1000 yards? Not likely...

SilentStalker,
Savage 10FCP-K $758
XLR Carbon (as shown) $1014
Zeiss Conquest 6.5-20 Rapid-Z 1000 $778
Warne 20MOA Base $96
Burris Xtreme Rings $49
Atlas BT-10 Bi-Pod $216
Total Build $ 2,911.00 (including freight)

1/2 MOA or better out to (and including 1000yds)

I will have a YouTube Video up very soon showing my first range session. I will post the YTube link once it is up, which will be after the holidays.

(My barrel has exactly 78 rounds through it and my first session was in 7-11mph winds, so I expect 1/4 MOA or better results within 6 months).

The 6.5 Creedmore would be SWEET!!!
Happy Holidays!

(Both) the Sako and Tikka will have better actions, if by (better) you mean; smoother actions. Most Savage actions I have shot have a slightly "clunky" feel to them when compared to higher-end rifles. Having said this (and owning several of these higher end rifles myself) I "chose" the Savage 10FCP-K for this build due to inherent accuracy of this Savage action/barrel and AccuTrigger – which is identical on the Savage 10BA, which I shot at long-range for the previous 4-5yrs and recently passed-down to my Son in the USAF. Just as with my current build, It is as accurate/dependable as any weapon system on the market today, and as you said; “there is nothing the Savage can't do that any other rifle can” – and at a much better price-point.
