My Sig Pro is in need of a set of tritium night sights. The Sig's white bar/dot sights are ok, but "ok" is not good enough for my main HD choice. I've had a set of Novak tritium's on my Ruger semi 45acp and it was a nice improvement over the stock sights.

I am likely going to put a set of XS Express night sights on my Sig Pro.

The only choice is: What size "dot" to use for the front sight. The XS FAQ section basically smerks at the standard (smaller) dot and says they stock it for the few who want it.

I like the whole idea of the tritium dot over a tritium post in a shallow "V" notch, but am looking for those of you with experience or insights ( pun intended  ) with the XS system of dot sizes. Is one size superior to the other in your opinion?

What's your take on this topic? Thanks

P.S. Yes, I did a THR search, but nothing on this particular question came up.

I have XS Big Dots on my SIG, because they were recommended by a deputy. The tritium vial is the same size as in the small dot sights, but the white dot surrounding the vial is BIG. It draws my attention to the front sight, and it's easy to put that big dot on target. It's definitely not a target sight, as the front sight often (usually) covers the bullseye. That's the way it's supposed to be shot at defensive ranges - cover the target with the dot and let fly.

I like mine well enough that I'm going to get the same sights installed on my Smith.

I have the tritium big dot set up on a keltec, and have had it that way for quite some time. I like the set up, it is fast to acquire, but once the range gets long, it's difficult to index the sights precisely for elevation. On a keltec this is great, it's not a target gun anyway.

I have seen guys with the small dot, but I never could figure out why...it's the same size as a regular front sight. It doesn't catch your attention any better, either.

YMMV
