I was a little disappointed when I checked the brightness of the front sight on my new M&P340CT last night. I have had many sets of Trijicon and other night sights on autos, and all were substantially brighter than the XS sight on this revolver. Are the XS sights typically not as bright as some of the competition or did I get a bad one? You can definitely see the front sight in low light, so it functions, but that is all. The sight has 07 on it, so I am assuming that means it was mfg'd this year, correct? I thought I had read reviews of XS sights in the past that mentioned how bright they were, so that is why I was disappointed. Other than that I love it. Hopefully, I will get some trigger time today. Especially impressed with the CT laser. Seems very powerful and illustrates just how well the little J frame "points". Can snap it up and point at a distant target and the laser always seems to be within a few inches of where I meant for it to be, nice gun.

Two Good, One Bad

In early 2002, I had XS Big Dot front sights with tritium inserts installed on three S&W 640-1's. Two of these are my daily carry guns and one is a backup/teaching gun, which normally wears a LaserGrip for the latter duty. In the second half of 2005, I noticed that the tritium bulb on one of the two carry guns was dim. I contacted XS Sights and they agreed that this was inappropriate for the length of time since installation. They initially tried to send me to the gunsmith at Gunsite to get a replacement installed, at their expense, but that is two counties away from me. I ended up shipping the affected revolver back to them. I had to pay the shipping in one direction.

(This is a good lesson about keeping at least one spare of the gun that you carry on a daily basis. I merely swapped the LaserGrip, which does not adequately fill my hand for live fire, with another set of Spegel Boot Grips, and filled the empty holster with my spare 640-1 until my usual carry gun came back.)

I have an XS regular dot on my 360 that's very bright. Good in low light, and gleams in the dark. I think you got a dud.

I will do so. The site says Trijicon on it. Does Trijicon make sites for XS or is it actually not an XS site as the literature suggests?

is it possible that when they were being instlled that the vial cas broken. this happened when a smith put a set on my glock 19 and the back site was bad, so i called xs and the squared me away and i this time put the rear on and t was good to go, i have sold the pisto since then but they are still bright as they are supposed to be which is really bright. i now ths because it is still in the family.
