Year Of First Firearms Purchase~?

1972.

That's the first year I went to the store by myself and only spent my own money. I'm not counting the years when I picked one out for a birthday or Christmas present, or when I contributed a little lawnmowing money to the purchase. That would push it back into the '50s.

P.S. - Edited to respond to "what year you all received the "magical wand" for
gun ownership~?"

That would be 1955. I liked shooting so much with my relatives that my grandparents gave me a BB rifle, wire wall rack and red metal box Daisy gun cleaning kit. I still have the kit, although the little glass bottles of bluing and oil have all but dried up.

1976
Dad had to do the paperwork.
I was only 15, but paid for it with my own money

67 or 68

I don't remember exactly, but it was probably 1967 or 68. It was before GCA 68 I know because my mother ordered it out of the Sears-Roebuck Catalog and it was delivered to the house in the mail or by the Sears delivery truck.

1982 dad gave me a lightly used Ruger standard-11
1984 bought a Marlin model 60 to keep it company-13 dad went with me to ok it

Bought for me with my money, 1994. Bought it myself with my ID 1999. In between I was in military, I'd just send $ home and have dad buy what I wanted for collection.
