My Guns Of 2005

Luckily, my wifey dosen't know one type of gun from the other; OK maybe
she knows handgun, rifle, shotgun. But, she doesn't know my Kimbers
from say a Lorcin (which I don't own); or my Smith N' Wesson old model
60 in .38 Special from her Rossi model 88 :)D laughing loudly). Only time
she might catch me is when the credit card bills come roll'in in; but I beat
her too the puch, and paid 'em all off. All of them reflect a 0 balance~!:uhoh:

Now what are you guys going to do if your significant others see this group of posts?

deny everything! demand proof!

my list for this year:

remington 700 lvsf: 22-250 (leupold 4.5-14) (unfired)
remington 700 lvsf: 7-08 (leupold 2.5-8)
remington 700 adl: 300 win mag (leupold 4.5-14) (fired the tar out of it...)
remington 700 lss: 7mm rem ultra mag (unscoped, unfired as of now)
smith & wesson 637: 38 special
springfield xd40 service: 40 s&w (unfired, still)
ruger single 6: 22lr (unfired)
nef: 22lr

and, coming this week: smith & wesson 357pd: 41 rem mag.

i think that will about do it for this year, though there are still 2 guns out there that have my interest...

Um! But me thinks me needs a good varmint rifle? Possibly a Remington
model 700 CDL with a 4200 Bushnell Elite scope in either .223 Remington,
.243 Winchester, or .25-06 Remington. It would be used mostly for 100
yard paper punching; and since I have 'bout 1,000 rounds of 55 grain
Lake City .223's; that might not be a bad idea?

BTW, you folk's know I am not a hunter; but a stong handguner! Just
in case you didn't know, look at my list above as too what I like. Its
mostly self-defense weaponary; but I did buy a new "Caldwell Lead
Sled" to play with my Colt AR-15.

for a varmint rifle, go w/ a heavy barrelled gun... the cdl is nice, but not really a varminter. check out the xcr by remington...

i am a hunter, and most of my guns are for the dreaded 'sporting purposes', but i like most guns, so i have a few of everything. i'm starting to get more and more into my ar-15 and smith & wessons... the ar-15 fad is replacing my remington 700 phase (so, i will save some money there - quite a bit, actually), and the smith fad is replacing my sig fad (doubt i'll save anything there - neither is inexpensive)... so, i'm really not getting ahead. oh well...

I don't know a lot 'bout new rifles, chambered for new cartridges. The WSM,
WSSM, and Ultra Mag are terms I'm not at all familiar with. I also like the
Remington 700 with the laminated stock and stainless barrel; but I would
want a conventional caliber~? At 58 years young, I'm just learning:D

And bullets? Ballistic Tip, Nosler Partition, Fail Safe, etc. 'bout the only
thing I use to shoot in my model 700's was Remington's Core-LOK from
my BDL .22-250, .243, .25-06, and 7m/m mag; unless I shot some of
my handloads.

can't help ya w/ your chambering hesitations... i like the wsm's and rum's.

the gun you are talking about is the lss... better hurry! it has been discontinued - at least in the rum chamberings. they do/did have the lss chambered to 7 rem mag, and that may very well be your hot ticket... however, it is a beautiful gun, but still isn't a varminter! check out the vls for your varminting needs if the xcr doesn't cut it...

  • Russian capture Mauser K98k
  • Tikka T3 in 300 WSM

MikeJ

Great choice on the S&W .357 model 65 -3"!

I've had one since '87 and she's Never failed me. I hit a long "work-like-a-dog" stretch and didn't have time for anything else. Luck blessed me and that's all changed..retired, and bought my 2nd weapon only last month. A KAHR P9 right after I got my CHL.

I'm in the process of amassing as much ammo for the above two as I can and making a list of what I want. "THR" has truely opened my eyes to what's available..and zero waiting period with the CHL. Also got a 2 year subscription to "American Handgunner." Between that and you guys, I feel confident enough to know what I'm doing when I hit a show or a store.

I'll round out this year with a Ruger Mini 14 "Rancher" Model if I find one that suits me.

Take Care
