A buddy of mine invited me out to his farm to do some dove hunting. We loaded up a couple of dogs and headed out. The bird shooting was very good, the dogs did great and fun was had by all.
Action shot! Here’s me dropping a dove and if you look to my left Trigger my 2 year old Jagd Terrier is water retrieving a dove.

Congrats and nice pictures. I was going to kick off my fall hunting with the opening of squirrel season Sept. 1st but wound up doing other stuff. Planned on a morning squirrel hunt for Labor Day but got notified of a Labor Day cancellation by a Lake Ontario fishing guide that I know, and some friends & I jumped on it. So now it's open water Salmon & Lake Trout to kick off my September. At least squirrel will be open until the end of February and the guide backs off of Lake Ontario in a few weeks.

Sept 1 started squirrel and Dove here in Ohio. We arrived to our normal public land spot that puts out a limit in an hour and birds were scarce. I toted my new Beretta A300 and took 1 dove. I had fun. I’ve been debating on squirrel hunting but 80-90 degree days i stay in the house.

Looks like you had a nice hunt. I’d be happy just watching the dogs work

Squirrel season starts here Aug 15. I've taken a few walks in the woods with a shotgun just to get out. It's still in the 90's most days but early mornings aren't too bad so I was out early and home early.

Dove opened last Saturday. I haven't been to a decent dove hunt in years. I no longer go.

Today started deer and bear archery season. I drove up into the North GA mountains and hiked into one of my favorite places to hunt. Didn't see a thing, but I was in one of my favorite places and it was a good day.

Not going to get in much hunting this Fall. I have a surgery coming up soon, still don't have a firm date yet, but I found out today it will probably be mid-October, before rifle season begins. I was hoping sometime in the next week or 2. I should be able to do most things after 2 weeks, but hunting or any other strenuous activity is out for 6 weeks. And I'll need a few weeks to get back in shape after taking 6 weeks off.

Should be ready for turkey in the spring.

I took this pic today.

Same spot. Same bow. I can't recall exactly when, but about 30 years ago. img001.jpg

Archery season been open a couple weeks here, but this is the first weekend it's been cool enough for me to consider it. So here I am, no buck yet, but at least I'm being entertained.🙂

Archery season came in here today . Small game and muzzleloader season comes in November 4th . Firearms deer season starts November 18th . I don’t bow hunt , but muzzleloader season is my favorite and I can’t wait . I also rabbit hunt a lot . My nephew and I have beagles . We usually don’t rabbit hunt much until after deer season ends January 6th . But I run my dogs on my property ( without a gun ) most of the year about 3 times a week . About the only time of the year that I don’t run them weekly is the hot months of July and August .

Well, no bucks today, got to stop for now and go take care of honey-do's. Had a few of these come right under me, but I'm in buck only mode right now🙂 20231007_083042.jpg
