How hard would it be to modify an 870 trigger assembly to fire like a M1897 or M12? I know that means pulling the disconnector, but I don't even know what part that is. I can fire my 870 every bit as fast as an 1897 or autoloader, but I am curious if this would be feasibly possible. It would be a neat modification, but I suspect I would have a hard time finding a reputable gun shop that would do it.

It can be done, I've heard. But....

A standard 870 can get off 5 shots in less than 2.5 seconds, if the shooter is up to it. Even slowpoke me can do it under 4.

Why pay lots of money for something of such doubtful advantage?....

BTW, it takes oneheckuva shotgunner to take advantage of a slamfire under controlled conditions. If you're doubtful of that, borrow a 97 or 12 and try out a few shots, counting only hits....

I know its innacurate. Like I said, I can shoot my 870 as fast an anybody with a pump or auto. For reference, I own an autoloading Charles Daly. I have shot both an 1897 and M12, and I just find the action to be fun.

I'm one of those people who frequently enjoys shooting vast quantities of lead down range in the shortest possible period of time. When I aim I am a pretty good shot, but thats not what I am looking for in this case.
