yet another Hi point thread

I didn't want to Hi Jack fattys thread. What's a fair price on a brand new "looking" used Hi Point .45. I can get this one for $150 otd. It looks factory new! I can't recall the exact model number, so lowball me.

Suggested retail for a brand new one is $199, I don't think $150 is a bad deal.

I was just looking on gunbroker and I saw some as low as $100 used, of course that doesn't include shipping which ups the price.

Buds has a new one for sale for $168 with free shipping.

My Son just traded for a High Point 45acp and Everyone gave Him a hard time over it.
We went to the Range and even though it is a Boat Anchor I was very impressed with how accurate it is.
It seems to be dependable and like I said it is very accurate,The recoil was very light,(I guess the Gun weighs too much to have a lot of recoil).
If it wasn't so ugly and heavy I might buy one.

Let me just say that the second I see a hi-point thread go off the rails, my policy is to close it immediately. Years of experience have taught me that there is no topic that goes south quicker than a hi-point thread.

So, agree or disagree, all I ask is that you keep it civil.

Hi Points are finally getting some acceptance as "good enough" defense guns. They're no frills guns and they don't try to be more than what they are. They'll never be a $700 competition gun but then again for 1/4 the price you shouldn't expect to be.

I'm glad somebody builds a gun that can go more than 1000 rounds without a catastrophic failure that costs less than two hundred bucks.

All I need is a "good enough". I have salivated at the sight of some of the other guns at the LGS. I really like 1911s and stainless(one Ruger in particular). But, I have Hi Point money. I see the Hi Point as being inferior and I don't expect it to be a Kimber either. It's just a tool.

I don't care what it looks like. I, myself, am not pretty!

How much does a box of quality .45 ACP cost relative to the cost of your gun?

I bought the Hi-Point .45 for $159 in 2012 before the Banic, now I have seen them for $200 at one local gun store. They are a good shooter and never jams.

I think $150 is a fair price that is in "brand new looking" condition.

Get it. $150 OTD is better than you would get buying on line and paying the transfer fee (at least in my neck of the woods). Love my HP 45. Works every time and accurate out of the box. I am not a HP fanboi but they are good guns and I have 5 of them. If it works for you who cares what other people think about them. Buy what you like not what others tell you to like.

Yea, thats pretty much it. The gun is pawned and I suppose the guy bought it new and pawned it shortly after he purchased it. It's $189+tax locally if you can find one. There there seems to be a high demand for them around here. If I buy a new one on line it'll be $173 after transfer.

If you want a Hi Point & believe it is a fair price for your area (it seems like that is what you are saying in your post) go ahead & get it. I understand coming here & price checking but ultimately it's your decision.

wow. If you can't afford $200 more for a decent centerfire auto- pistol, how can you afford to shoot it enough to have any skill with it, when ammo is 25c a shot? That $200 is just 800 lousy rds. I've shot more .45's than that in one day at the range, many times. You either need to get a lot more money or stick with .22lr.

Guns, like a lot of other things, are always cheaper somewhere else. If you've got one that you think is a fair price where you are, you might as well get it. You're probably not going to travel to somewhere else to save a few bucks.

To the guys quoting new prices under $200 - are you talking about the 4595 .45 carbines? Or .45 pistols? This thread is about the .45 carbines.

A nearly new .45 carbine for $150? I'd knock over a bunch of nuns to get at one for that price!

^^^ RE my post... handguns. Where do you get this thread is about the 4595? The OP didn't mention that in his original post and in his third post mentions 1911's. How in any way does a 4595 carbine compare to a 1911 pistol?

I apologize for any confusion. I was not aware that HP even made a rifle until a few days ago as I have never seen one. I was referring to the handgun.

$150 Hi-Point

My wife bought me a Hi-Point 45 for X-mas this year. A local guy I know was selling it "slightly used" for $150. I called and he never called back. My wonderful wife went behind my back and got ahold of it. I have a .380 and a 9mm carbine and I love both. I you have "Hi-Point money", buy it and you won't be disappointed. Different locations relate to different prices and any new ones around here are right at 2 bills and traveling an hour or two in any direction to get them 25 bucks cheaper would negate the purpose.

Buy it. I sold one recently for 150. and I assure you it was not like new. They work, are fun and reliable, but odd looking.

Rather than spend $150 on a Hi Point, why not just poke yourself in the eye with a sharp stick? That won't cost anything!
