You know how people used to put color in lettering?

I bought a 25-2 with the mismarked barrel. Instead of "Model of 1955" it's stamped 1950.

But somebody put that gold lettering stuff in it.

How do you get that out?

Try giving it a good scrubbing with a tooth brush and lacquer thinner or acetone.

I guess I already know the answer since you posted that, but, acetone won't destroy any blued finish on steel?

Acetone and lacquer thinner will not hurt the blue but don't get it on the grips. Be sure to re-oil the barrel afterwards.

White fill is often used when photographing the markings on guns (and other items). "Gold" fill is purely cosmetic, just to have something different.
