You know you read gun boards too much when...

Oddly enough, I didnt even know about 300 untill a day or two before it was released. I was getting ready to take a shower, and they were discussing new movies on Good Morning America. I heard the critic say two key words: Leonidas and Thermopylae.

That was the first time I had heard about the movie. I saw it that weekend.

You spot calibers and numerical gun names everywhere.

Even on digital clocks, and especially from 3:03-3:38...and that's just for calibers - add in the weight of various bullets, and you find yourself thinking of guns almost as much as the only other thing that's more important.

Whenever you see a picture in the news of someone holding a gun, you check to see if they are keeping their finger clear of the trigger.

And nearly every time they aren't doing it. :what:

You posted in this thread.

That's related to the +1 stuff.

The High Road goes down for three days and you actually can't think of anything else to do.

The board goes down and you still double-check it 10 times per internet session to see if it is back up yet.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one having these symptoms.

You guys have company. Well, not entirely - I reloaded a bit more than I otherwise would have, and played Risk on the computer a bunch (though I checked THR in between games). Damn, what a frustrating 3 days.

OK, here I'll finally post an original contribution:

You know...when you move into a new house and your bedroom door bothers the ever-living Hillary* out of you because it squeaks. And you re-research the best lubricant to use ('cuz you've got to pick from the 10 different types of miracle gun lubes, oils or CLPs that you bought because they were the finest, newest, most durable, etc.). And then finally just spray the hinges with FP-10, which you instinctively knew to do.

...only to find that your house isn't level, and the reduction in hinge friction (that was evidenced by the squeak) causes the Goreing* door to close by itself. And it still does, 3 years later (I guess FP-10 works!). And your wife is still pissed off at you, and tells you not to spray that gun Hillary* anywhere except on guns.

*Oh, and you have to find ever-more creative ways to avoid getting caught by the Art's Grammaw Rule.

...when you wife gives you an irate phone call at work, wondering why you're not home yet, because you were responding to a thread about "You know you read gun boards too much when" :D

Gotta go - really!

I'm ashamed to say this happens to me pretty frequently. Though I'm not usually even posting, I'm just reading "one more thread" before heading home.

-You just started posting here (after alot of lurking) without even introducing yourself, and you get excited that someone responds directly back to you in a thread you didn't start.

-You read so much THR that you lose track of time and co-workers ask you if you plan to go home today when 5 o'clock rolls around and you haven't logged off.

Your bosses at your internship are impressed because you spend more time in the office than expected... not knowing your work computer is the only internet conncection you have at the moment. :D

Careful about that - some employers review your internet connections (and can do so without your knowledge).

You remember Skunkabilly and miss his posts...
Also, you quote Standing Wolf in political arguments...
You recognize the members at other forums like our blackpowder pistol Guru MEC...

....when you go to the Boards to ask what is going on in such and such a place, and get an immediate accurate reply.

You know you read gun boards too much when you read threads entitled "You know you read gun boards too much when..." to see if you read gun boards too much!

You know you read gun boards too much when...

...when you've ALMOST got yourself convinced that you read gun boards for the same reason you read Playboy. For the articles, naturally! :neener:

I work at a public school. I KNOW I'm being watched!!!

You've been a member since 02-08-07, and you've learned more about firearms and the people who use them, abuse them, love them and hate them than in all the rest of your 43 years put together.

Thanks THR and it's members. I spend too much time here, yes, but it is SOOOOOO worth it!!!!

When the board goes down for a few days, or even just a few minutes, and you worry about "where am I gonna get my THR fix????"
