Hi,
I live in a place where I can own all the guns I can afford of any caliber, and my safe has a few, including high capacity autos.
What do I carry as my "always" concealed carry gun? The only one I've ever found that I can virtually ALWAYS carry on me. I've found larger guns limit you to where you can't ALWAYS have it handy. Trouble comes suddenly, and you might not have the bigger gun on you.
Thus, my "always" gun, which is in my front pocket as I speak, is a S&W "Airweight" .38 Special snubbie in a simple pocket holster. I can literally "toss" it in the pocket and head out the door and no one ever notices it since the non-blocky look of a small revolver truly hides the imprint of the gun!
Most trouble arrives like a bolt of lightning . . . and departs just as fast. Here in the states the average gunfight lasts about three rounds! BOTH the bad guy AND the good guy have no intention of standing still and getting shot, and the bad guy knows the noise is going to bring attention to himself.
Don't get me wrong, when I can I'll carry a much larger and higher capacity firearm . . . usually a .45, but most times I can't get away with that large a gun, even in a good concealment belt holster.
Even if I am carry a bigger gun, the .38 snubbie still goes along in my pocket. Heck, it only weights about 15oz. empty and the five cartridges don't add a lot of weight like a big, double-stack magazine full of ammo.
Yep . . . I'm BEST armed . . . when I'm ALWAYS armed. You will be too.
Good luck!
PS: Here's a photo of my little snubbie and its cheap Uncle Mike's #3 pocket holster. It protects the finish of the gun better than leather and I just replace it every year or so once it wears enough (the HOLSTER that is).
