Your carry caliber choice

Over the last year I've carried several calibers in several platforms. The most by far would have to be .38 Special +P in a snubby carried in a pancake holster by "Simply Rugged" holsters. It's just flat comfortable! I sometimes will pocket a Kel-tec P3AT as well. I also have two IWB Makarov caliber options in a CZ-82 and a East German Makarov both in Falco IWB holsters. Unfortunately Falco has just discontinued importation to the US. I also sometimes carry a Kahr CW9 in a IWB holster. Just two days ago a Don Hume "Open Top" belt holster arrived for my newest carry piece, a Taurus PT145. Once I've brought myself up to speed on that pistol it will be my new carry preference. So...take your pick, .380, 38 Spec., 9X18, 9X19, .45 ACP. Variety is the spice and all that. :D

My latest favorite is a Glock 20 - 10mm.

16 rounds of 180 gr @ 1360 fps.

Depends on where I'm going ................... the .45 is my #1 choice but if the clothing won't cover I'll go either to a Mustang or PPK

The .38 IS Special

More and more its easier to just pocket my Taurus m85 with a couple of speedloaders (all of which are filled by the FBI load). I like the weight, convenience and the statistic of "3 ft...3 sec's...3 shots

The .38 spl has been in business a looooong time and for civilian applications of self-defense should be good enough.

Anything else would be my G19 which I have out and ready to wear if/when the temp around here drops for the winter to where people actually get a bit more layered up.

I carry a .40. In a subcompact, you get higher capacity than a .45, and I personally have more confidence in it than 9mm. Just me.

In order of carry frequency:

.32ACP - Pocket Carry is always carry
9x18 - Makarov is my favorite gun, and I trust the caliber
9mm - Larger, but I also really like my Springfield 1911 chambered for this

For CCW:

.44Spl when carrying a revolver --- 75%
.45Acp when carrying a semi-auto --- 20%

.32Acp on rare occasional --- 5%

.22 WMR --- BUG 100% (NAA Black Widow)

I shoot .45 because that is what I have the most reloading components for , but realisticly{SP} My favorite caliber is the one I have with me when I need it:what::eek:

38 special, out of a Smith &Wesson model 638 Airweight. I have it on me at this moment and I am leaving for church! Yes, it will be on my person while in church, after all, I do live in Texas!

Agree 100% with that. When it's convenient to wear a cover garment, I also carry a .357 4" revolver. (with the snubby in my pocket)

No expert and currently in process of obtaining first handgun and CCL

After being hit with a 9mm (almost died) after 5 hits I hurt like a mofo, but the idea of more force to stop a BG in my home or wherever the Idea of a .45cal seems comforting, and with a cap of ten with a second clip of 13 waiting with a SA XD-45 compact it seems the best option for an all around?

Thats my two cents until I learn otherwise :)

I own a 9mm, 40, 45, 44, and a 38. I carry the g-27 in .40 most of the time loaded with winchester sxt 180's and sometimes the 38 snubbie with federal 110 gr hydrashocks. The others are too big to carry concealed comfortably, without looking like a dork.

LBGLOCKER, if you are using handloads as your carry ammo, I'd advise you to stop NOW! You are prey to a lawyer that would paint you as a vigilante, loading up your own "killer" rounds, so that you could inflict as much damage as possible. Buy factory ammo for carry. If it does it's intended purpose, then the lawyers can go after the companies, not you.
