Good call. What I meant to write was my Marlin 12 gauge Model 200 single shot. I think these were made when Marlin bought out H&R and were sold exclusively at K Mart stores.

Another Maverick 88 here. Got mine back in 93 after moving back home to NY and needed a basic piece. 129.99 at Dick's for the cruiser model, and then twenty five bucks for a real stock so I could actually hit with it. Sold her for 250 ten years later, still regret it, but I needed the money.

Paid $75 for a S&W 916 back in 1975. Thats about $340 in today's dollars. Paid $199 for a Savage 320 a few months ago. That would be about $44 in 1975 which would have got me a H&R single shot.

I, too, got one for next to nothing around that time. In my experience, the Model 916 (a cheaply made gun based on a Nobel design) is worth about what I paid for it-next to nothing.

I don't know if I agree with you. No its not a Remington, Ithaca, or Winchester bit mine is still working fine with no breakdowns.

I'm only speaking from my experience and I don't doubt that yours is different, but, if you do a search on the Smith & Wesson Model 916 shotgun, you'll see that my opinion has lots of company.

Had to wrack my brain on this one. The shotguns currently in the safe I bought second hand except for the Mossberg 500 that was given to me as a gift. Cheapest shotgun I ever bought new was a Stoeger Uplander; I was looking for an inexpensive way to experience a side-by-side double. Can't remember what I paid for it, but didn't take long for me to decide it wasn't for me; sold it off shortly thereafter. Did the same thing with a CZ Redhead to get a feel for an over-and-under; liked the form factor, didn't care for the gun. I'd completely forgotten about them until this thread; probably lost a few bucks on both experiments. The better shotguns that replaced them were bought used.

My cheapest shotgun I bought new is my Mossberg Maverick Model 88 12 ga. pump shotgun. And for the price I paid for it when I bought it $ 199.99. It is my favorite to shoot.

Harrington & Richardson topper model. 20 gauge single shot. Bought in the 70's for about $75.00. Took many a squirrel and rabbit with it.

My Remington 870 Wingmaster was $250 when I got it in '82 or '83. It came the 20 inch barrel with rifle sights and the 26 inch barrel with the vent rib and gold bead sight.

I received a Mosin Nagant, years ago, as a 'sweetener' in a trade deal. Essentially, it was free.

I recently traded it for a Mossberg 500E .410 in excellent condition.

I got my Maverick 88 on sale for $189 at Academy Sports.

I've got an AyA that I paid $300 for. It's a Sears & Roebuck model.

I'm trying to convince myself not to grab a nickle Rock Island M30 for 2 C notes. Looks like a nice knock around gun. Probably more practical than a Shockwave/Tac-14 as well.

My cheapest one was a single shot NEA I bought at Wal-Mart for 80 bucks in 1999. Dunno what happened to it. My Ithaca 37 was sold to me for about $300. Good price for a great shooter. Thinking about the RIA M30 just to keep the 37 nice.

I just got a sale flier from basspro , they are having a black Friday sale and I can get a Remington 870 express for $247 out the door . With the $60 dollar rebate that Remington is giving now it will cost me $187 after the rebate . If I didn't already have three I would one at that price .
