Your choice for pocket pistols?

Just had my Lovely Wife put an Avatar up! The one I liked was me standing behind a Company Jeep, with my Shotgun, with SECURITY in one-inch white letters on the buttstock. Thought it might be seen as advertising?

380 all the way. LCP/LCPII, Bodyguard, Pico etc. Just pick the one that feels and shoots the best for you (if you get a chance first). There's really no reason other than gun free zones to ever go unarmed with at least a 380.

Either my Taurus TCP or my Kel-Tec P32 would get the nod. The KT already gets carried pretty much every day (also in Florida) in jeans, though it is backing up another gun worn on the hip.

I've stood in front of a room full of people giving a presentation with the R9 in a DeSantis Nemesis in my front pocket. I routinely pocket carry the R9 at client's sites - it really disappears into a pocket. Most of the time I'm wearing business casual, but I've been in meetings wearing shirt & tie, business suit and business slacks and the R9 isn't noticeable.

The RM380 is almost the same gun. I have the RM380 and like it also.

Going to swing by the LGS between calls soon, see what I can find and compare.
He usually has an LCP or two and sometimes some Kel-Tecs. I do like the thought of one of those, if recoil in the featherweight things aren't going to beat me up.
Will try a Pico if I can, too, and check if that LC9 will fit in one of my pockets.
I mean, my SR9c almost can, it's just bulky and heavy for it. And getting it back out in a hurry isn't happening. So the smaller stuff should give me some leeway.

The tiny pocket pistols can be snappy and not necessarily the most pleasant to shoot but they won't beat you up like a snubby.

I think the analysis depends on whether you want a gun that allows you to pop off a couple of rounds at a bad guy in your face or whether you want something that you really can fight with. If the former, things like the LCP may work. If the latter, consider something slightly larger like the Sig P238 or Glock 42 that comes with a slight bit more heft and decent sights. I had a P238 that was pleasant to shoot and was accurate even at distance. I think the Glock 42 also would fill that role, but I have only used a Glock 43 which is larger and not a good comparison.

I used to carry a S&W 642 in the pocket of suit pants before the explosion of mini-.380s and 9mms, so something larger than an LCP is OK with me. YMMV

I have no personal experience with them, but it sounds to me like a Sneaky Pete belt "holster" would be an ideal solution to your specific work environment. They look sorta' like a cell phone case, just a bit bigger. That would provide you with easy access, keep the gun well hidden, and allow you to carry something a tad bigger than a tiny gun. Since it is a fully enclosed case, removing your jacket at any time would not pose a concern with seeing a gun. https://www.sneakypeteholsters.com/

I posted some pictures, and some thoughts about, similar pouch holsters here.

Well, stopped in to check at the LGS. They don't carry Kel-Tec and the other fun choices were either slightly too large for my pockets (LC9s, etc.) and/or far heavier (RIA Baby Rock).
I really want that Baby Rock for some reason. If it was .22 or 9mm it would be next on my wish list.
Anyway, they have LCPs and LCP2s for only a hair more than ordering one +shipping +transfer, so the first good paycheck I get will probably go there.

I went and looked at the Baby Rock. I was not impressed. If it is in the budget, a similar gun is the Browning 1911-380. I have retired my Colt Government Model from EDC; but it is also an excellent choice in the full size .380 1911 pattern Pistols. LLama also makes one; but it looks no better than the RIA. If you want to go a little smaller, there are several patterned after the mustang: Colt (of course), Kimber (the one I have), Sig, and Springfield all have current production models in that style.

Like the Colt 380 Government Model, the Kimber Micro 380 does not get much carry time. The issue is that I am not willing to carry a 1911 pattern pistol unless it is in a good holster, made for that model. At that point, there is very little point to carrying a pocket pistol (Of course, my EDC is a Glock 42, which is also 380, it just comes down to preference).

Oh, I wouldn't use it to carry. Too pointy and heavy for the specific case I'm looking for. If I can manage bigger than a pocket, I could just carry the SR9c.
But the example I got to handle was tight, snappy, and rock solid all around. That's why I'd snatch it up if it was in one of my 'range calibers'.

I have a Glock 42 and a Sig P938, both of which carry in a pocket just fine, in a proper holster.
I used to have a Beretta Nano which I liked a lot but it was just a tad too thick and printed a bit.
I also used to have a S&W Bodyguard that was a good, reliable, but somewhat snappy gun but if I got hold of it wrong, in a hurry, I would sometimes get slide bite.
There are other fine pocket guns out there, many recommended in this thread, but I've never carried them in my pocket, so I won't comment on them.
Whatever you do, get a good holster.

So, with all the other conversations going, what's your personal choice for the matter?
Currently, Glock 42. Honestly, it is on a large size for a pocket carry. But the biggest problem with the miniature 380s is the reliability. The G42 is the only one that's trustworthy and still fits into a pocket (with difficulty). I have some hope for Ruger LCP II, which is much improved over the original LCP. The testing is still ongoing.

Alright, new job. . . . . strangers' (some stranger than others) houses, through neighborhoods of all kinds, and loading and unloading the van everywhere from the well-lit police medical examiner's office at noon, to a pitch-black alley behind windowless business at 3 in the morning. . . . .formal clothes. Tucked in. And had to cut my hair, dangit. . . . . my .38 is too thick for these clothes. It needs to disappear into a pocket in slacks or a blazer. . . . . tiny 9mm, .380, .32, even maybe a sturdy little .22.

So, here's what I see:
Formal clothes
Tucked in
Strangers' houses
All hours
.38 too thick

I'm sorry to hear about your hair.

I wear either a suit or a blazer 4-5 days a week. You can hide more gun under a blazer than you might think . . . . as long as you're standing upright. I EDC'd a G19 for about 3 years. I eventually moved to a S&W Shield, and it's a breeze to carry. I don't tuck my shirt over the holster, but rather behind it. I hang my jacket over the headreast of my car, and I've learned to slide in and out of the car with a minimum of exposure of the gun. That said, you may need to be a little more conservative than I am in terms of "concealed."

If you're going to go IWB, I'd suggest taking a look at the StealthGear Revolution. I have two of these (one for the G19 and one for the Shield), and in fact sold off my CBST. That ventilated backing makes a big difference. (And no, I have no affiliation with them, except for being a satisfied customer.) Somewhere around here, I actually wrote a review of them.

You could, conceivably, pocket carry a .38, but I have found that the pockets in suits are generally pretty small. I can get an LCR in there, but it's a tight squeeze, and the pistol bulge is significant.
