We keep the doors and windows locked. I've been armed since I was 21 years old. That was 1971. Wifey knows to head for the bedroom and plug her ears on the way. I'll get the first before the splinters hit the floor!

Funny thing...recent weeks, there have been many kicked doors in a mile radius of home. I've talked with the neighbors. "Edgy" would describe the general mood. These punks think its all cool, but it'll get ugly fast one night then it'll all quiet down for a while.

As far as the rest of the thread, bravado.... I am not a ninja warrior, trained swat or ex special forces... I hope to do the best for my family and myself. I am not sure what I will do, but I hope that my skills with a firearm and knowledge of my house will help.

Well being 16 and living in Australia, not having guns in the house for a start and here in Aus there is a rediculous ammount of bureaucratic red tape to cut regarding you defending youreself and only using the necessary force required without killing them, i have something similar to a ka-bar knife and so does dad in his draw thats about it and pray that they dont have anything better.

Now that is just sad. Can you have tasers and stun guns? If so, those may make better defensive weapons. Knowing what I know about knife fights, I try to avoid them. I'd also take a baseball bat or baton over a knife any day. That said I still carry my folding knife daily just because its so handy and concealable.
