How soon can you arm yourself? What about any other family members? Will someone else call 911 immediatly or will you worry about that later? Is your front door always locked if you are home or just when you go to bed? These are just somethings I was thinking about tonight.

Doors are always locked.
Gun is always IWB (except when sleeping or in the shower in which case its on the floor next to the bed or shower).
Dog barks at anything that moves within a two block radius.
911 will be called after action to take reports and clean up mess.

Doors are locked. There's no way your kicking my door in before I'm armed.
I added 1 extra deadbolt to each door and reinforced the back side of the jamb with a piece of aluminum plate.
My wife knows to head for the bedroom in an emergency like an intruder and call 911 to have the body removed.....

I looked around a didnt see a thread like this one. I was just sitting at home thinking. By the way if we banned all threads that have been covered in the past there would not be much to talk about.
What Zunfolge said, except I have no dog. I live by myself so the threat will have to be stopped before I can take time to call 911.

I'm always armed...the sad thing is I'm never home (OTR truck driver)
My wife is always armed, the door is locked at night, the very well trained dogs are outside (most of the time), will call 911 to come clean up the mess.

My doors are always locked. I'm confident my door will stand up to at least one or two solid kicks. That gives me time to place myself between the threat and my family, draw my pistol from the holster on my hip, and if my gf is home, she'll be on the phone to 911 while I'm dealing with the threat. If she's not home, I'll call 911 after the threat is handled.

DOOR IS LOCK most of the time .AND THERE ARE 3 MUTTES in the first room that will make some noise also.
motion detector outside beeps inside when beam is broken, little heads up before the door kicking in starts
XD45ACP is on my hip 90% of the time or on the table next to me .

DE50 on a shelf way up top by ceiling.
even have a beater 380 in the garage close to the reloading bench for them late night reload sessions
so I'm guessing pretty quick on the get a gun, and the way this house is set up u have to kick 2 doors in to get inside, weired set up.

Doors stay locked, even though I live in the sticks. I'm always armed if I'm dressed. If the door was being kicked in at sleepy-time, I could have one of a variety of appropriate weapons in my hands in a few seconds.

911 will be called automatically because if you've broached any opening in my house, a deafening siren goes off and it goes to alarm company then dispatch. No need to touch a phone. If it's a common BG, they will run with the alarm, I hope.
Door are (now) always locked and alarmed with me inside. Except now, cuz the pizza guy is coming but there happens to be a gun 6 inches from my hand. Didn't plan that, just happen to be handling firearms at the moment. I'll drop a towel over it before I go for the pizza guy/gal.
I hope that after that the OP is done thinking about someone kicking in the door right now, he can move on to something more relaxing. I'm planning on watching the tube with the pizza and forget about the BG. Preparation allows for that, I hope.

I am armed, as usual.
In my house, all entryways are kept locked when they're not being used, and they're reinforced against break-ins. It's going to take a lot more than one swift kick to get inside, and if the bad guys are dumb enough to keep trying, then the police will be there to pick them up--alive if they're slow or dead if they break in first.

In my case windows and doors are always locked. I'm upstairs with my S&W 442 on the nightstand and Winchester Defender in easy reach. Roommate across the hall will call 911 immediately. Roommate downstairs is a light sleeper and has a Kimber, SAR-48, and MP5-PDW in easy reach.

Between me Cherokee they made a mistake kicking in that Door
