Taurus revolvers! I did not know they made one..ha ha ha.

just kidding. they are decent for the money you pay for them.

not sure about the US but here in PK they cost less than 1/3 or SW, Colt or Ruger.

You want a taurus? Buy it new and hope there is nothing wrong with it from the start because the life time warranty service is very very slow. That being said I have two right now that I bought new and haven't had a problem one with them.(A 9 shot .22 and a titanium ultralite .38)
I did buy a used .38 and it spit fire and burnt the cases due to excessive play between the cylinder and forcing cone. They aren't bad guns but you get what you pay for and they won't hold their value like a Smith and Wesson when it comes time to sell.
My 0.02 worth.

You know, you could eliminate a lot of that "hoping" if you'd just pick the gun up and thoroughly check it out before purchase, especially a USED gun. I don't understand folks that will buy without checking out the gun. Timing, play, cylinder gap, all can be inspected. I've turned down more'n one revolver on inspection and none that I can remember was a Taurus. A sloppy, unfireable Smith and Wesson 1917 taught me not to buy sight unseen.

First of all I bought it off of GunsAmerica. I had the owner send me around a dozen pictures. The gun had a 3 day inspection. It rained for 5 after I bought it.Perhaps that was a omen. The lock up didn't seem too bad to me when I got it in my hands.
I haven't bought one off the internet since.
There you go...

Very poor quality even considering the price point

Some of the worst new revolvers I have ever seen. The triggers are heavy, rough, the sights are poor, they often come with timing problems tool marks, poor accuracy, terrible service and terrible resale value.

Spend a few extra bucks buy American quality and support our country in the process.

My 38 Spl Taurus M85 Ultralight is a good little pistol, shoots to point of aim with 158 grain bullets, accurate and excellent trigger pull.

Surprising recoil for a 38 Spl, but that's the trade off.

My Taurus M431 in 44 Spl is an early, 1993 vintage Taurus. Shoots to point of aim with a 200 grain bullet, is accurate, has a nice trigger pull.

Have not had a problem with either. :D

Nice model 431, here's my model 441...only difference is the target sights.

It hits POA like clock work, has the smoothest double action pull I've ever seen on a revolver.

Yet, some would bemoan that I'm living in sin owning this outlandish revolver because its made by Taurus...the  invention.

Some are totally captivated in their own quagmire of thoughtless bias...guess we should feel sorry for such...:cuss:

I purchased a number of Taurus revolvers a few years ago and their quality was indeed pretty good but the last two revolvers that I purchased (a 85CH and a Tracker), the workmanship was a real disappointment.

I intend to make a Taurus revolver my 2nd, non-auto gun. Since Taurus is Brazilian, are there any particular ammo manufacturers that you guys would recommend -- such as Brazilian-made MagTech?

I had a 5 shot .38 with a shrouded hammer - a Bodyguard clone, I guess. I never had any trouble with it, but I used it in a trade and have never missed it.

I finally got my 445 back from Taurus (10 weeks) and I have to say they did a good job fixing it. The chambers had deep machining marks in them making extraction impossible without a mallet :(, so they replaced the cylinder. Works fine now :).

Three 85s
One 82
One 83

Good timing, good lockup, accurate and zero problems over the ten to fourteen years that I have owned these revolvers.
I especially like my wife's SS83 and 3"85.

Also, these are all from the '93-'96 era.

I myself as well as a couple of friends and family own the 85 ul, they have been shot a lot with no problems, very smooth trigger. My son did have one of the 24/7 autos which he had problems with , sent it back to factory and they supposedly replaced the magazines and told him to clean it more. ( he is picky about cleaning him guns, cleans them after every shooting session) The gun still jammed about half way thru each Mag. He traded it in on a 44 Taurus revolver and loves it.
