I luuuuuves mah M&P9. Got it just over 2 years ago.

I have never had a single malfunction of any kind. It's accurate, soft shooting, and feels so nice in the hand that I can't imagine anything I would change about the grip.

I have CCed it pretty frequently. Never had a problem with the slide finish. The finish is holding up very nicely, and I've never spotted even a speck of rust on the thing.

My M&P 9c trigger was actually very good for a polymer gun right out of the box. I might do the Apex upgrades at some time, but I think the trigger is fine now.

Great pistols, just sent 2019 rounds through mine without cleaning! I had one malfunction at about round 1100, a light primer strike, but it fired on the second try. I'm going to try 2000 rounds again and see if it'll go the whole time without any malfunctions. It's an M&P 40 full size by the way.

I bought a fullsize and a compact at the same time and then sold them both. I loved the way that the fullsize felt in my hand, but did not care that much for how the compact felt in my hand. I think that they are great guns, but I was looking for a new ccw and wasnt sold on either. Had the fullsize been slighty smaller I would have kept it.

The first pistol I ever bought was the S&W M&P9.

Pros: It's easily the greatest feeling handgun I've ever held, it just fit in my hand like nothing else. The backstraps are easily changeable and when I put a houge hand-all on it it still felt perfect in my hand. Reloading was a breeze, the mag slides right in, no bite on your hand and it ejects very promptly. It very easy to break it down.

Cons: I didn't care for the trigger creep but this pistol is very easy to do a trigger job onhttp://www.burwellgunsmithing.com/misc/M&Ptriggerjob.pdf. Maybe it was my inexperience as a pistol shooter but I found the snap on it wasn't to my liking (it's only a 9mm after-all and now I shoot 10mm). It's a bit on the bulky side since it's double-stack, but that's just a personal gripe, there's nothing actually wrong with that.

In all fairness, I'm all 1911 man so to be honest I'm a bit biased now.

I can't say a bad word about Glocks, but I also like the M&Ps very much.

When I decided to transition to .45, I bought a Glock 21 and a Glock 30. Both were just too big to shoot or carry comfortably. I since bought a M&P45C. With the small insert in the grip, it feels like it was made just for me. It also has a barrel with traditional rifling for shooting lead reloads. After a hundred or so rounds, the trigger either smoothed out or I learned how to shoot it.

Great Gun! But if a Glock feels better to you, go for it.

I'm a Glock guy. I kept my G26 & G19 and sold my M&P fullsize & compact. I agree with the .45. I would take an M&P.45c over a G30 or G21

My Glock 19 has been in the safe ever since I got my M&P9c. The Glock is more accurate but the M&P9c is more comfy to conceal and carry.

my mp45compact was flawless.

my mp40compact had issues with the slide locking open with rounds still in the mag, and not always locking open on an empty. (and no, i wasn't contacting the slide catch during firing). 3 trips back to s&w couldn't solve the issue either. did some research and found a couple police dept's were complaining of the same issue...

ended up selling both to fund an EMP40.

that's my experience.

The real mags...where you carrying them both in the same make of holster? I found it to be just the opposite for me.

FMJ....my buddy had a full size MP40 that had the same slide issues. About every third mag sent through it it would either lock open when not empty, or not lock open when empty.

yep, that's the same model i found the police dept's having that issue with. i found a couple posts on other forums where people like me had the compact mp40 with that issue. i think it's some sort of design flaw.

did s&w fix your buddie's?

s&w replaced my slide stop lever, and slide stop spring 3 times. after that, the issues didn't occur quite as much, but they still happened.

^^^just as well, s&w probably wouldn't have been able to fix his either lol.

i even requested a replacement gun the last time i sent. they just sent it back with the same work done for the 3rd time. too bad, great little shooter.

......but like i said, it had to be sacrificed for an EMP40 anyway lol

I have a FS.40 and FS.45. Both are really great shooters, but the FS.45 is my overall favorite of the entire M&P platform.

I was going to purchase one last Thursday and had a chance to shoot one that belongs to a family member. My first impressions was that it felt like my H&K USP when I was holding it. Although when I was examining it I couldn't get over the fact the Dust cover reminded me of the plastic used in those cheap wiffleball bats we played with when we were kids. No offense the pistol looked fine. I guess. But I think it is over priced for what you get. :scrutiny:

Guess I'm the only guy who had a less than positive experience with the M&Ps.

I've had 2 m&p's with no internal locks or mag safeties, one I kept for 3,500 rds or so, no issues, good gun, second one I had I broke 3 strikers while dryfire training... Both guns had vague crappy trigger resets even after trigger jobs and I disliked all the extra parts and complexity over a Glock for no real gain, in fact you need to remove the rear sight to clean the striker safety and almost have to break the extractor pin or slide to clean the extractor or replace a worn extractor or extractor spring... Detail stripping an m&p is work, a Glock is a 2 minute operation done slowly.
The better grip didn't make up for all of what it gives up to hang with a Glock IMO (which is what it was designed to do), they break pretty often when really worked which is why I still think a Glock is a better gun and if I had to go to war with one I'd pick the Glock over the m&p everytime.

I have a MP Pro 9. 500+ rounds and nothing but perfection. The five inch barrelis great. My brother has MP 45 and I fell in love with the MP after shooting his numerous times, finaly had to have one and got my Pro 9. The fiber sight up front is excellent, boy does it pop in low light conditions:D My next MP is the MPc9.

I like mine, and 2 of my friends prefer it over the XDm (w/ Springer Trigger kit) and Glock, after shooting al 3 back-to-back. My M&P9 Pro also has an Apex sear and SSS Ti FPB

I hate S&W as a company...but the M&P is a winner...and their compacts are some of the best shooting and best feeling in the market in that price-range. Good gun....sucky company!

satisfaction has been extremely high among new M&P owners at the shooting club...just like the XD they all love the way they feel and love the way they shoot! They are great guns...as hard as it is for me to admit!

My MP40c is my conceal carry 5 days out of the week...the other two I lighten the load with a Kel Tec PF-9. I feel 100% safe with the Smith on my person.

About 1,500 rds through my MP45c purchased new in mid-Feb this year. My first polymer gun, and a plastic gun was about the last thing on my list of stuff to buy. But, I put 100 rds through it on rent at the club and bought it the next day.

So far, it seems to handle a wide range of loads with just the stock spring, and I'm at least as accurate with it shooting freestyle as I am with my full-size Sig P220. The stock trigger was god-awful but with about 90 minutes worth of work you can make a huge improvement. Drop in a $30 sear from Apex Tactical instead, and all you might want to do is tidy up the trigger bar loop (the part that engages the sear) and maybe round off the firing pin block pin, and hey, you've got what I think is the ideal carry.

I plan to shoot it in CDP division at the local IDPA match this weekend if my holster comes. I'm not saying "I trust it so much I'm willing to shoot a match with it", I'm saying it will definitely not be a negative impact on my score and I want to see how she handles under a little light pressure.

I have both a M&P Pro in 9mm and the M&P 9mm Compact. I have put many rounds through both pistols and have had very few problems. I have had 2 or 3 FTE recently but after a thorough cleaning I ran 65 of the same reloads with no problems.

I shoot both USPSA and IDPa. Two of the members I shoot with had striker pins break the same week. One while dry firing. I had to replace the original striker as I was getting light hits on some rounds. I was told by S&W they would send me one of their "newer" ones and since then I have had, maybe, two light strikes or FTF.

I am extremely happy with both pistols. They get a regular work out and have served me well. The ergonomics are the best, and the finish is holding up nicely. I did silicone the insides of my holsters and believe that does help.

I some times CCW the 9mm Compact and am confident it will be up to the task if needed.

I've an MP9 with 600 rds through it over the last few months. No problems of any kind in terms of reliability. The trigger leaves a little to be desired- it's a bit crunchy on the take-up but I'm used to an Anschutz 1813 so it's equally me.
