Your Favorite Gun Noises

I'm comforted when you have a good cheek weld on your AR and you hear that barely audible spring noise from the buffer...spprrroooing....spprrroooing...sp sp sp sp rrroooing!!!

On another level, when playing "Guns" as a child (We did not play "Cops and Robbers" or "Cowboys and Indians"), our favorite gun sound was something that might be written"Kxxxx!"

My grandmother hated it. She wanted us to say "Bang,"

On a real level, any sound of proper functioning (i.e. not silence or "click") is fine.

Yes, the Garand enblock "ping" is nice.

Hearing the buffer spring go "sproing" on an M16/AR15 is OK.

However, to me at least, the best sound is the "click, clink" sound of an Aguila Colibri being fired from a Winchester 1906 at a soda can.

I find the sound of working the bolt on an old military rifle like a mosin or a SMLE is phenominally relaxing. Sometimes i will just take out my guns and work the actions for several minutes.

I think my most favorite sound is brass hitting the ground... obviously you have to be on concrete to hear it... but I love it.

Working the bolt on a rifle has to be second for me... something like my M44 bolt...

Third would be racking a pump shotgun...

The sound of my Baby Eagle racking the slide; Rem 870 pump action; and my loud, little, Ruger Compact 7mm-08 (only 16" bbl so it's fairly loud).

Also, my Mosin 44.

Nothing wrong with any of those but I have a special soft spot for the "klatch-whooshboom" of my .50 cal flintlock. Followed by the wonderful aroma of real blackpowder.

The snick noise of my XD slamming it's slide shut.

The rack of my mini-14 as it closes.

Of course the racking of a shotgun and the following boom.

I really like the "chew-wopp" noise of my sub-2000 firing, its not too loud and has such a nice report.

I also love the low "wooomp-oof" noise that my air cannon makes as it fires a potato, but thats not a firearm.

I really like how it sounds when I rack the bolt on my SKS. It's just the kind of solid mechanical sound that gives me the warm fuzzies.

I'm wondering if the sound for the title sequence on A Few Good Men was altered at all. Those marines flipping around those rifles sounded pretty darn neat.

Gee, well the sound of the bolt slammin home, the bullet firing, the sound of te bullethitting it's mark, the ech of the shot, and the sweet sound of brass hitting the ground.:D

+1 on the Garand enbloc.....that *PING* gets the attention of everyone on the line.

My little 1908 Colt's slide makes the most perfect of mechanical noises. I can't help smiling everytime I take her to the range.

The sound of my 139 grn sst smacking the front shoulder of a big buck, nothing like the dull thud of a sizzling fast bullet smackin' home

I have to say that the Garand clip ejecting out is like music to my ears. Makes me smile just thinking about it. :)
