The "what the hell was that?" sounds coming from stations around me at an indoor range right after touching off a full house .357 from 2" barrel Colt Lawman Mk III. Impractical round for the 2", unless you enjoy that sound!

Cary in a 500 S&W and they're ready for it, from a snub nose, what a surprise.

+1 for the Phalanx.

That "ping!" when an enbloc clip comes out of my Garand. Makes me smile every time.
OH YEA! That is good stuff. I also like the sound and feel of the bolt going forward on a semi auto pistol.

+1 for the 40mm. There's just something about that "foomp" that makes me smile.

And of course, Ma Deuce.

I'm wondering if the sound for the title sequence on A Few Good Men was altered at all. Those marines flipping around those rifles sounded pretty darn neat

Nope, not altered at all. They slap those rifles so hard their hands actually swell up.

I like the sound of a cylinder snapping closed on a revolver, especially my SP101.

The sound of a .22LR going downrange is cool "ku-shoooo"

A AK mag locking in place, and the bolt being racked.

So many good sounds, so little time.

Here's a weird one I haven't seen yet - the soft, firm sound of the safety clicking off on my AR, felt through my cheek, as I prepare to shoot a group off the bench (been doing that alot lately for workups of reloads)... then, after feeling the slack taken out of the first stage of my trigger, with the sights centered perfectly in the 1" grey square I'm aiming at, as I exhale and the reticle sits perfectly still, the report from my 20" barrel.... then - and this is maybe the best part - the "click" as the sear re-engages when I follow through after the shot and see a black hole right in the center of that 1" grey square... THAT is a GREAT series of sounds to me :)

Also that echo that .22LR gives off a 25m berm - it's such a nice, polite "pschhhewwwww" sound - I love it :)

The clip ejecting on the M1 is definitely number one, by far.

A distant second is the slicker 'n snot action on my well-worn Remington 870.

The last time I went shooting, a friend brought his Marlin .30-30 levergun. Working the action produces a very satisfying sound, and firing the rifle gives a good serious report. I enjoyed my first experience with a lever-action rifle :)

The sssssss-BOOM! of my BP salute cannon.

my favorite noises from my rifle - seperated from a video in the making. 100,000 points for anyone who can guess the first two noises and several zillion points for who can guess the caliber.

Ummm, magazine being inserted, and bolt closing? Am I close? BIG gun, under an overhead covering - maybe a .50 BMG?

yep first two correct, caliber is lukewarm (as in hot cold game), smaller caliber and it was fired outside with hills surrounding half the firing area.

The "Lock and load" sound of Closing the action on a AK4 (H&K G3) or AK5 (FN FNC) is among the favorites. Other favorites are the heavy thumps of two or three 7.62 Machineguns giving alternating fire, punctuated by the lighter barking of AK4s or AK5s, especially when heard from a distance of a couple of kilometers. The Thunder of a 84 mm recoilless rifle thundering away down the range is not so much heard as felt through the entire body and the distant thunder of 155mm Howitzers while lying prone waiting for the enemy to come walking into our trap during battalionlevel wargames is (was) just neat.

my 2 favorite sounds are; 1) the noise a revolver makes when you pull the hammer back, and 2) the sound of a high power rifle when you shoot it. the double crack as the bullet goes sailing along over a long distance.

The sound of a twelve gauge slug soaring down range. Conditions have to be right for you to hear it, but when you do, it's like a little miniature jet fighter taking off :D
