Your "go to gun."

Tough call, because I'm blessed with many great options at hand. My favorite all time to shoot is my Henry Golden Boy. My days of hunting are mostly behind me, but plinking off Necco Wafers, Ritz crackers, and pop cans is still my favorite past time. I do have a special spot for my Gen4 Glock 26, my S&W Model 10, and my Browning Buckmark, but my Golden Boy is the one that gives me the most pleasure to shoot.

Hi...
Lots of different firearms that I use regularly that could be defined as "go to guns" ranging from hunting rifles, shotguns, carry guns, etc.

None will be buried with me...my son will inherit all of them, plus all the accouterments and reloading equipment that go with them.
Might as well give them to him...he has been referring to them as his for years anyway.

Wow, some good thoughts here. Everything from the Viking pyre to being ready for the river crossing.
I would say either my Glock 17 or 19, or maybe one of the 1911s. Or, the SBR AR with a choice of uppers - 223, 300 Blkt, 22, and even 7.62x39.
I think I'll be ready... for whatever I need to go to.

And yes, they will not be buried with me. They will go to the family, maybe some friends, but they will hopefully sending rounds downrange as I push up the daisies.

The one you have absolute faith in and wish to be buried with.

Well it'll have to be something that would intimidate the creator. I figure he has some explaining to do. So it'll be my Colt GM in 38 Super and a bandoleer of spare mags. Demons and Deities hate the Super. If I can't get that past the metal detectors on the Pearly Gates I'll try to sneak one of my Colt Combat Commanders in 45 acp through. If that don't make it my S&W M13 with the 3" barrel. If St. Peter wands me I guess it'd have to be my Shield in 9mm. If that shows up it's be the Glock 19 because we all know in teh afterlife it really won't show up in x rays.

With my luck Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday will be there with a big sign telling me no firearms are allowed to enter paradise. This means I'll be detoured for 50 or so years pawing through the mounds and mounds of guns and ammo piled there and shooting all I can. I come from a long line of people who refuse to surrender their weapons and who are good at ignoring signs and fences. So I'd try to sneak in some with my weapons. At a minimum I'd keep my Spyderco.

Likely I won't get in there. So I'll have to go to the other place and demand some answers from the boss of that place. The old Colt in 38 Super will be with me.

Going into a little more detail, The M15 for carry and the .36 flint round ball rifle for small game.

Small game rifle.

Standby for the go to carry, .45acp.

The one gun I would grab for 99% of my needs is the CZ75B PCR. 9mm will cover anything I an think of. I don't hunt but it fills the need for concealed carry, range shooting, plinking. Not full size but has a decent capacity, enough for all the situations I can think of. Plus magazines are reasonably priced.

I have a nice little collection. Most of which are old school wood and steel. All have various purposes. But the one " go-to " gun that was probably used heavily for years on cans, stumps and numerous various pests for over twenty years is the household .410 Snake Charmer. It's nothing to brag about. Got it for a little over a hundred over twenty years ago when I just moved to the country and discovered that some critters need to be disposed of. They're definitely not like Disney portrays them when they're destroying something. I own stuff that's worth more but that cheap shotgun has done a lot of work over the past 20+ years. Gotta give credit where it's due.

Me 1951 production model 70 Winchester, 30-06.
57 grains 4350, 180 Nosier partition.
It's been like my right arm for decades.

Is that IMR-4350 or H-4350? I run a Nosler Ballistic Tip 165 gr. projectile with IMR-4350 of 57 grs. and it is what the Nosler manual load.

A third generation Glock Model 21. I built it myself; have fired it, now, more than 25-26 thousand times; and it's already saved me from getting myself into real trouble twice! I don't really like Glock pistols, anymore; and I'd never buy another brand new one; but I call this particular G-21, 'my lucky gun' because that's exactly what it's been for me!

Sounds like my stepson. What part of Pa are you in? They sound like they know each other.
We must be close if you live in the Lehigh Valley. My address is Kintnersville, Pa. but I live right off of route 611 about 7 or 8 miles south of Easton, Pa. over
by Lake Nockamixon.

Aahhh! That is close. I bet you've been to Sarco or the Heritage Guild a time or two. I go down there every now and again just to browse. You're closer than me, I live in Point Phillips. It's in between Bath and Wind Gap.

I certainly hope my guns can go on being useful after I'm buried. I'm only asking one lifetime of fun from my firearms.

However...my S&W model 60 lives in my pocket by day is close by at night.

I guess my ''go to'' gun would be my 1911 RO. As to be buried with, would be a gifted LeFever Nitro Special 16ga circa 1939 my grandfather me 49 years ago. Never shoot it, but I think about him every time I break it down and oil it.

I looked at the first post on April 11. I thought, pondered, considered, prayed, reconsidered, introspected, weighed, and explored the question. I read all the responses.

I conclude some questions cannot be answered. If I have need of a "go to" gun, I will go to where I have them stored, hunker down, and use all of them.

I have a good friend who has been Chief of Police for 3 different agencies who is now retired and he told me over lunch a few years ago "Get one gun and get very good with it". Mine is a brace of G-19's. One has 25,000 rounds thru it and the other has just over 10,000 rounds thru it. The 25K gun is my EDC and has now had more than 1000 rounds of Winchester Ranger T 127GR +P+ thru it with no issues including 600+ used in Gunfighting Classes I have now taken. The Ranger T ammo is my ammo I carry.
