185 Corbon DPX in all my Commander and smaller I have 200gr Corbon JHP +P in My 5" It seems to really like that round 230 Blazer for play

Win white box 230gr jhp.I bought a bunch of it when Wally World was clearing it out several years ago. It's accurate and reliable in my Kimber. What more could I ask for?

I use Hornady in all my self defense guns. In .45acp I use the 230 gr TAP in my Talon II and 200 gr TAP in my Colt New Agent. The faster acceleration of the lighter bullet helps make up for the velocity lost with the shorter barrel.
TAP only comes in +P in .45.

Attached is a little ballistics comparison i've pulled together from manufacturer's websites; gives a nice layout and comparison mainly between 230gr. & 185gr. i'll let the numbers do the talking....

Guys self defense ammo "high end" is like argueing over wich car would be the most lethal if you hit some one. I just about don't matter they are all so good now all are in decimal points of each other. Worry about penetration.

DPX is my current round of choice. I find it feeds well in gov't mdoels that are otherwise picky about hollows, and it's ballistics tests are GREAT.

At the moment I'm loading 230-gr HydraShoks in my Colt Series 70.

But in .45 ACP... just about anything will work. Lots of BGs have been successfully shot with plain-old hardball.
