Hi ALL,

I recently acquired a used H&K P7-M8 squeeze cocker .9MM. What are your impressions of the weapon. I tested it on the range at 25 yds, and it is the most accurate .9MM I have ever fired. :D

Thanks for your help.

I like mine! I blush everytime I say squeeze cocker for some reason.

Greeting's Again Silent One My Friend-

My thoughts on the H&K P7M8 is that they are a very impressive
semi-auto; but have been priced out of my range. I've never
even shot one, but I know a couple of LEO's that swear by
their design; and thats all they carry.

As for accuracy? That debate may be up for grabs, as there are
a lot of very accurate 9m/m's out there; among them are the
BHP, SIG's P226 & P228, Walther's P99, a variety of S&W's,
along with H&K's USP line.

If I had the chance (and the FUNDS, which I don't), to jump
on a P7M8; I wouldn't hesitate, as I believe that is a for sure
wise investment. Congratulations on the find, and hope you
enjoy it as much as I do my very own SIG P228.

Respectfully Your Friend,

I love mine. Bought it as a novelty and to complete my P5,P6,P7 collection. I quickly found it is reliable, super accurate, super fast into action, very safe, very easy to carry and all in all a spectacular handgun.

Most guns I tend to compare to SIG handguns and most fall into the it's really nice but it ain't no SIG category. The P7 is a gun that is as good if not better than my SIGs and for me that is saying a lot.

Now it does have it's drawbacks.
It gets hot under sustained fire.
It is expensive.
Weird manual of arms. Very intuitive but different than anything else.
The magazines are hand forged in the mountains of Tibet by monks and then hand rubbed by 12 virgins and then delivered to a man only known as Hans who seems to be the only supplier. Hence their COST and AVAILABILITY
It is a complicated gun. Extremely well built but complex. Complex and Mr. Murphy don't mix. So if something does go wrong it will probably be a PITA.
It is heavy for an 8 shot 9mm.
It is EXPENSIVE.

The P6(SIG P225) is a better gun for the masses but the P7 is a mechanical work of art that is also emminently practical and a hell of a shooter.

I had a P7 M13 awhile back. I agree, the P7 was the most accurate 9mm I've ever owned and I've owned a bunch of different ones. Like all HK's, its almost "boringly" accurate. They are great pistols but do take a little getting used to, especially if you intend to carry it. Its probably best to either carry only it or everything else.

My impressions: I like the way it handles, its slimness and IMO the squeeze cocking action is easy to manage.

I don't like that the slide stop is difficult to get to. I wish mags were cheaper. While it's a better gun than my Beretta, I still shoot the 92 better

I've gone through four P7M8's and one PSP. I've tried older used guns, "like new" older guns, well broke in newer guns and pristine recent production guns.

The P7 is a neat design, but when I realized that I shot both my CZ-75 and my Makarov better, I decided I really didn't need a $1,000 pistol. The P7 never really fit my hand right and the guns always pointed low for me. It actually took longer to get on target with the P7 then with almost any other gun. Kinda negates that "quicker into action" claim for the P7.

I'm glad I tried it. It is a neat gun and owning a few has thoroughly scratched the P7 itch. When I sell the last PSP I have left, I'm done, and with no regrets.

I love mine. I wanted a P7 ever since I saw Die Hard. Beyond being cool looking, it's the most accurate 9mm I've ever owned and the squeeze cocking system works great. Magazine changes are fast due to the cocking lever also acting as a slide release.

Hi all,

So far, so good. :D Thanks for sharing your experiences with the P-7. I did notice the heat that it generates dufing rapid fire.:fire: I guess I'll have to keep my trigger finger off the side when shooting. The mags may be expensive, but they seem to be built like a tank, and they should last quite awhile. Dan, my good friend, you have to give one of these weapons a try if given the chance. They are a hoot to shoot. :D Thanks again everyone. Keep the opinions coming.:)

expensive upfront and expensive accessories, heavy, limited capacity for the size, gets hot very quickly, accurate, great trigger pull, didn't like having to squueze something other than the trigger

I love them. The shoot well. Bore axis is low in the hand so it is ver easy to control and follow up quickly. Easy disassembly. They are expensive and they do get hot but they are hard to beat for a CCW pistol.

2 P7M8s Soon P7 "PSP"

I like my P7s a lot..Very expensive when you look at them compared to "others"

You get what you pay too..

They are really a "Cult" pistola..:D

Mine shoot great and are just a pleasure to deal with..

Some love em, some don't....that's what makes this country great...frredom of choice...that said, if you don't own one, you are a doody head....:)

My P7M8 is my main CCW, I love it.

It is as accurate as some match pistols, almost no muzzle flip so it's easy to control under rapid fire and keep on target, great trigger, and extremely safe to carry.

It takes a little getting use too but once you have, it is very proficient, the only bad thing is once you have gotten use to it and you go to shoot a different pistol, it’s a little hard keeping you self from trying to squeeze the grip before you start firing and when you go to release the slide.

I shoot 100 to 200 rounds through it every time I take it to the range, if you shoot it fast for about 4 mags back to back it gets a little hot but not bad, normal shooting you don't notice it that much until maybe after the first 100 rounds but even then it's still not bad.

Do a quick search here and TFL for P7 threads. They always get many responses.

I CCW a P7M8, and also have two M13's.

If I could only own one pistol, it would be a P7.

There is easy accuracy with the P7 because the barrel is permanently fixed to the frame. The M8 or PSP make excellent carry guns. I even carry my M10 though that is a little heavy. The newest HK, the P2000 is no smaller than the M10 though it is lighter. Super reliable and durable the P7 is one of the few guns that I would have to protect my life.

I have a PSP model. I bought it from a fellow that never shot it and it has been in my safe for three years now. I've never shot this particular one but have shot M8's. I bought it because the PSP's not readily available here in California. My overall impression of P7 pistols is that they are nice, accurate, well made, and reliable. They are also expensive, heavy, underpowered, and get hot when you shoot them. I don't find the price to be a real complaint in that I have several pistols that cost more. The biggest bitch I have about the P7 is that it is a big and heavy pistol to lug around considering it only packs a 9MM payload.

They do look way cool though.

Take Care.

Marvin

Underpowered? Only to the extent that any 9mm is. I've found that the P7's actually shoot milder with the hot ammo due to the gas-delayed blowback.

Having CCW'd both, a P7 is easier to carry all day than a BHP.

Alright Zak, I opened Pandora's box and showed pics of your gun to my dad (2 M8s and an M13). Who did the finish work on your gun? It really looks well executed.

I have an M13 and PSP. Don't carry either. Not b/c they're not well-suited for carry. I just can't imagine one of these guns getting thrown into evidence if something should happen (I've seen how PDs treat firearms taken in evidence).

SPS,

Virgil Tripp of Tripp Research did the hard-chrome job on that PSP. For about $200 and 8 days door to door, he transformed a very worn, sad looking P7 to what you see.

The pistol is only going to be as powerful as the cartridge it fires. It seems logical to me that a heavy pistol firing a minor caliber is going to be a comfortable shooter. I carried a Browning Hi-Power for years, still own one, and think they are a really nice pistol. I don't carry one for the same reason I don't carry a P7, they are both a lot of pistol to carry around considering the caliber. If I am going to carry that much weight around it will be a .45. If I want to carry a nine then it will be in something more portable. Bottom line for me is if I am going to be carrying a nine it is going to be in a pocket or an ankle holster. I don't hate the P7, heck I own one. I just don't find the weight to be worth carrying when a Kahr, Pocket 9, etc. fires the same cartridge. Thank God this is America and everybody has a right to an opinion. I couldn't be happier for you that you are happy with your choice. If you are happy with your decision than I think it is the right one.

Regards,

Marvin
